In a little while I'll be off to vote for our local Police Commissioner.

It's the first time I will have to provide ID to vote - a solution to a non-existent problem which IMO is intended to prevent the wrong sort of people from voting.

Because it's not combined with any other election, turnout will likely be around 10%

That's all we've got today. Not even had a single leaflet through the letterbox, normally I shake my head at the folks who claim they have no information about who to vote for, because it's usually falling from the trees come election day. But this time it's quite true, it's the planning department from Hitchhiker, you have to dig to find any information about any of the candidates whilst avoiding the leopard And of course the role itself was nothing but a headline grabbing policy. Totally and utterly useless role.

ETA even worse it means our monthly quiz has to be delayed as it happens on the 1st Thursday of every month and the community hall we use is one of the polling stations!

Yeah, I voted at about 09:00 and was the only person there. Well, apart from the three officials of course. As I left, after about fifteen minutes (they were a bit chatty - loneliness?) a bloke and his wife were coming in. At that rate, I doubt there'll be a high turnout.

I prefer "Little Rishi" or "Rishi Rich" depending on the aspect of Tory infighting, corruption or incompetence is under discussion.

Where did the practice of calling Sunak Rish! Come from and why?

It was John Crace as far as I know.

Just like The Maybot

It was part of his slogan during his campaing to replace BoJo the Clown. John Crace ran with it.

I also see in the Graun that demobbed/retired soldiers are being refused the right to vote because their veteran's ID isn't good enough.

No, Veterans ID isn't counted.

An expired passport is fine though as long as it looks like you in the photo.

Look any ID is fine, any ID presented by a Tory voter that is, so your over 65 garden centre discount card is fine, your passport, birth certificate, driving licence, student ID aren't if you are under 65 or look like one of those liberal or green voters.

Over 60s oyster card but not over 18 being an actual example

Meanwhile Laurence Fox of the Reclaim* Party continues his decline. Latest is posting a (manipulated) up skirt photo of someone he disapproves of. Who has informed the police

*The privately owned and millionaire -backed right wing party that makes Reform seems same.
Has he paid the 210k he owes yet?

I'd make a joke but I don't want to run the risk of it being tied to me in case they don't let me do it again. It's £262 for the day, not losing out on that on the semi-regular.

No it 's been reported by a local MP was written to by an unnamed student the MP assumed attends Walsall Academy.

Perhaps you should glance at my follow-up post, which included a link to the MPs response and from there you can find a statement from Walsall Academy.

I have voted for a mayor that I don't see the point of having, and spoiled my ballot paper for the police and crime commissioner. And now I need to make a complaint to the council because the room being used as the polling station wasn't wheelchair accessible; I had to get the Returning Officer to bring the ballot papers to me so I could vote in the corridor (without the required privacy, and then trust him to put the papers in the ballot box).
