Well, as far as I can tell, Icerat has done the forum one significant favor, which was keeping it (just barely) alive.
Interesting that within a few hours of me creating this thread the Domain was renewed.
Was it this thread that told the owners of the need to do so?

I have a yearly reminder set up for the 14th, when I saw your thread I sent an "early" email to icerat. Don't know if that was what triggered the renewal, icerat or one of his employees could also have a yearly reminder set up.

No, it was a post on the Facebook group.

Then you're not looking very hard.
No matter how hard one looks, if one is not a member of that group nothing more recent than 2019 is viewable.
Look harder.
Depends if you're looking for a new post or a new comment on an old one.
Really? No, it was a post on the Facebook group.
on August 10, 9:41 a.m. UTCWhen you log on to this forum on 15 August 2021 or in 4 days 14 hours 18 minutes from the time of this post you will find the forum is not operational. The reason is that the owners have not paid for the URL. With luck, it will be back in a day or two.
...
Ok, you're correct that a comment from 2 days ago was buried between a comment from 2 years ago and a comment from 1 year ago on a post from 3 years ago.
If wading that far in amongst years old posts and comments to find a recent comment buried in there somewhere is not looking very hard in your opinion, then fine, whatever. It's not like Facebook lets us sort by newest comment.
Really?

Yes yes, well done. Thank you. Thanks, both of you. I wanted to say the same things, but you said them better than me.
I am now patting myself on the back. I have stopped this forum from being down for a day or so. At least for another year or so.

Probably right. The page in question, however, is the International Skeptics page, run by icerat.Given that icerate hasn't been in the forum (or at least, not while signed in) since April, I'm going to pick that what happens on the JREF Farcebook page never gets his attention.
It's one of the deader pages on the internet, with rare posts. I don't believe for a split second that had anything to do with it.
