Would you work for Trump?

No, but only because I'd be worried about getting mixed up in something illegal. I'd be scared of ending up a fall guy.

I've already had a job that required ethical ...flexibility. I learned a lot, the pay was good, and I would never do it again.

He wouldn't employ me in a million years. For a start, I'm not American, i.e. a damned furriner! And I don't share his (supposed party's) religious views, i.e. a crypto-Mooslim-terrorist! Two strikes against already. Such a pity.

But if I WAS offered a position, I would want all my expected pay given in full up front (let's say a couple of mil would be about right). For that, he can nominate my job role and conditions. It won't matter what these are because will treat them like he treats his job role and conditions - with utter disdain and refusal to perform them.

I would accept all this with equanimity because I would quit the moment the payola hits my Cayman Islands bank account. Donny respects "deals" like that! ;)

Well, he did hire a Hungarian Nazi.

I think it's an interesting question and very hard to answer honestly. It depends first of all on what one is willing to give, forego, deny, etc. in order to get personal advantage (I'm assuming that in this scenario working for Trump is lucrative and not utterly illegal). We'd like to say we cannot be bought at any price, but people all the time manage all sorts of justifications, and if I say I would not it's knowing full well that I can well afford not to.

Second, though is the interesting historical angle, and that might depend on how long you expect to live, and how important your legacy is. I have often wondered, for example, how many people who were adamant segregationists 50 years ago, are proud of that position now. I suspect the majority are not, just as other positions and memberships that have become retrospectively unpopular have somehow become retrospectively un-peopled.

I think (abstractly and with little real hope) that humanity would be better served if people could honestly ask and answer the question: will I be proud in 50 years of what I'm doing now? Of course the easy route, which so many take, is to do what seems opportune now, and lie about it later, and I doubt that will ever change.

I think there are probably some very heroic people who are just trying to save the institutions of government and our key alliances from Trump. The US Ambassador to London is one. He tweeted a commendation to the Mayor of London after the The Hair's irrational Twitter rant about him. There are probably functionaries going behind Trump, undermining his message and keeping lines of communications open for when we return to responsible government. Hopefully, when this is over, there will be a memorial or something to them or maybe a gift certificate for dinner for six at Bennihana.

It's much better to work now for Trump than in the past, since it's not him personally who writes your check.

If I ignore moarilty, I would want enough money for the rest of my life, ahead of time, and it would have to be kept compktely secret. Conversely I like the idea unthread of using it to collect evidence.

No, no, thinking about it, I just don't think I could do it without feeling so slimy that my mom would roll over in her grave.

That's an interesting question. I am wondering what in the world Trump has that I am qualified to do?

Ivana has a megayacht I could engineer. Don't know if Donald has one now or not?

Government jobs working directly for Trump? I am completely unqualified, so no.

Armchair critic seems more attuned to my qualifications.:D

I don't think the answers in this thread reflect well on the environment in which Trump apparently thrived.
