• Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.

Windows 10

Does exactly squat.

There are the (internal MS) emails that have been released during one lawsuit a few years back. In it, you'll find a bunch of emails of Bill's complaining about some of the shortcomings of Windows (incidentally, also some of my Win pet peeves).

What happened? Exactly nothing. The problems he complained about were still present in versions released long after. Some of them are still present in the current version.

What does this tell you when a figurehead of a company points out problem of one of their flagship products, and they're NOT FIXED?

That the released emails were phony?

Anyone know where 'compatibility settings went? I have a website that won't log in like it should. Keeps kicking back to log in page with no explanation. Had no issue with 8.1

OMG Bill Gates must be secretly sending instructions to his evil hoards of privacy-invading sock-bots via Hillary Clinton's email server!!!!!

This is my theory also. Throw in some Obama and the thread is good to go.

ETA: Mention guns.

Emails submitted to the court, and from there to the public (since, you know, US court files ARE public)? Embedded within the internal communication that convinced the court of MS's wrongdoing? (IIRC, this was related to the false advertising of "Vista ready" boxes that were anything but.)

No one ever presents false evidence in court?

I am extremely satisfied with Windows 10. I look forward to the release of the mobile version for my phone, although the current version of Windows on it is not bad in its own right.

Unbeknownst to me, my 97 year old dad upgraded to Windows 10. I have been doing computer stuff for my dad and his wife for years and there hasn't been a single significant change or equipment installation that I haven't been part of as far as I know. And now my dad just goes and installs a new OS by himself. Awesome. MS may have done something right. Way to go MS. Way to go dad.

Edge has replaced Internet Explorer, and it hasn't got the old code to be compatible with. You can manually open Internet Explorer (either from the start menu, or click the three dots under the close button in the new browser and pick 'Open with Internet Explorer'); compatibility settings should work the same as always in that.

Just the kind of heartless behavior you'd expect from Micro$oft.

Driving a wedge into the tender relationship between a child and their parent.

Way to go, Micro$oft.

We look forward to the installation of Windows 98 next year.

I seriously do not like the new features of this OS, but upgraded anyway simply because I don't want my system to become obsolete.

Cloud storage is useless to me. I don't need my data stored anywhere outside of my own computer. Hard drives are quite large enough to handle pretty much every thing I do, and I can back up locally quite fine, thank you. I also have no use whatsoever for their new security features -- mostly just an annoyance. My risk of theft is practically zero in this area, and no one uses this computer but me. As of yet, I haven't figured out a way to turn off the password requirement at startup. I suppose that annoys me more than it should -- but just to give you an idea, it makes me want to throw my computer against a wall every time I'm faced with it.

I'm perfectly content with Amazon as my source of online buying -- I don't need buying features in Windows. I also don't need any programs keeping track of my searches or "interests." I'm interested in everything quite frankly -- rather than wanting my search results limited to whatever box you'd like to put me in. I'm quite capable of making my searches specific enough to get the actual results I currently desire without having Microsoft (or Google for that matter) psychoanalyze me.

So... anyway...

I'm kinda pissed off about what they've done with Windows 10. As of yet, I've turned pretty much all the new "features" off that I can find.

Oh, and they're freaking programs, not "apps". Apps are for people with cell phones, too much time on their hands, and a desire to be completely unaware of their surroundings in public. I, on the other hand, would immediately search for a trash bin if someone gave me a cell phone as a gift. It's also one of those bastardized terminologies that annoy me just by seeing or hearing it. That may not be rational, but I'm quite fine with being irrational on the subject.

Yeah, I guess I'm an old fuddy-duddy, but still -- seriously dissatisfied customer here.
