Window size question

I would appreciate any help one can give me regarding this problem that occasionally pops up (pun unintended) ...

For some reason the size that my opening Windows' window starts out with is much smaller than full screen. Now, I keep re-sizing it to full screen, but each time I start it will open with the smaller window (about 25% full screen, and not centered or cornered). Eventually, it will go back to opening full screen --- but I have no idea of the mechanism that does this, nor have I any idea as to how to manually keep it opening in full screen mode.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

(I'm running Windows XP.)

close all windows for the program except one. size that window manually to the size you want (don't use the full-size button). immediately exit the program. Reopen. Theoretically it should reopen to the same size as before.

I've seen this happen with several causes such as multiple windows, some small, some large, where when you exit the program the last window closed is the size saved.

Some programs try to track this on their own and override your own setting.

Thanks Kev, that seems to have worked ... but I know I've only had one window open when I last tried this before and it still opened up small. Here's the difference I tried just now. I opened the window -- fully sized it manually, pressed the 'Full Screen' option --- went back to the manual full size and resized it again by going smaller then to full size. Closing it this way opened it (and everthing else) to full size from the Star Up screen.

Am I correct in guessing you are talking about your web browser window?

You change your home page link so that javascript will reset the size each time you start up or hit the home button.

Change your homepage link to something like:

javascript:resizeTo(800,600); moveTo(0,0);document.location.href='[your homepage here]'

You will have to play with the sizes

OK, I'll give that a try when I get the chance to play with sizes -- thanks.

I surf while playing 3D games. When I switch into the 3D game, the desktop resizes to the 3D game's resolution. This will auto-resize the browser to be smaller. Quitting the 3D game does not restore the browser since the desktop is being made larger. If I just quit at that moment, which I do most of the time, the browser remembers it was small rather than large.

Perhaps something like this is going on?
