Heh. I did not know what you were talking about, so I googled "Zunigas ad", and lo and behold:

The "mentos" part comes from a hilarious parody version of the add that's floating around. The "Screw them" bit comes from Something Kos said in his blog some time ago, where he belittled the death of US contractors in Iraq. As for "kiss of death", well, when a phrase is that apt, it tends to stick. Kos has made something like 16 political endorsements so far, and IIRC every single one of them lost.
