I looked and couldn't find a thread about it.

So.

Fresh Prince bad? He got in one little fight...
 
The guy tried to kiss him on the mouth - given the smirk on the reporters face he got the reaction he was looking for
 
In my culture, you'd kiss your father and family, maybe your best friends, but not strangers - I think the reporter was out of line.

Smith didn't lay the reporter out either, he backhanded the guy lightly at worst
 
IMO

The reporter was trying to be goofy and provoke a reaction; in Smith's place I might've shoved the guy away or said loudly, "Not cool" or something like that. Smith has been dealing with "He's secretly gay" speculation in the press for a long time, and may have felt compelled to be emphatic... in which case he acted with some restraint.

That said, I've kissed the Fresh Prince many times. The poster on my wall I mean.
 
Yah, I'd personally call it a weak flick, and he even smiles a little bit, like he's calibrating his reaction. If it were male-to-female, I'd guess the consequences would be much different.
 
Just watched the video. The guy embraces Smith who goes along (uncomfortably) but the guy then forces kisses on Smith while Smith tries to fend him off. Smith has to literally push the guy off him. The slap was very light tap from the fingers while the perpetrator was looking away grinning, I get the feeling it was to get the guy's attention as Smith said "What the hell is wrong with you?"

Smith then immediately moved away and dealt in a friendly and polite manner with everyone else at the event.

As far as I can see there was no celebrity tantrum or meltdown, the headline should read "Will Smith sexually assaulted, responds with admirable restraint."

Not really. Really is rather a lot of reporters do rather boring work for AP and the like. They deserve to be pitted. A few have the resources to decent investigative journalism which is nice. The various specialist reporters can be respectable enough. The rest is well yes a bit of a mess.
 
Reporter doesn't seem like the best word for him, maybe performance artist. It seems like all he really does is go around and attempt to annoy, harrass, provoke people then film their reactions.
