Why should polygamy be illegal?

Art, which of your partners have legal standing to sue for your wrongful death? Clearly you child and the mother could sue on his/her behalf, but as individuals which of the people have the legal standing to sue?

L is friends-with-benefits. I enjoy spending time with her watching movies, or just hanging out. Sex is secondary (although it is always good).

K is someone I've had a sexual relationship with for many years. She's so much a part of my life that I rarely actually think about defining our relationship.

T I am genuinely in love with. Are you aware of the difference between loving someone and being in love with someone? I love KL, K and L. I am in love with T.

Sure no problem, but I wouldn't equal the L&K relationships to those of marriage on the level of marriage, but they do seem to be your best friends, cherish them.

All of them. We all have equal legal standing (note - K, L and T are not officially part of this arrangement).

But did you ask about legal standing or inheritence. It is conceivable you have the inheritence and some of the divorce issues by forming something like a company with all your assets being company assets and so you would each get an equal share at the disolution. BUt I don't think that would give you legal standing.

I don't think so. But like I said, I don't have much of a handle on the legal minutiae. And also please remember that Australian law is not the same as US law. Exactly how it differs I couldn't tell you. :rolleyes:

Which is part of the point. Your marriage will likely not be recognised internationaly which can be a substantive difference or not.

I wish Z was here more. About a year ago he said the same thing about the relationship he was in with two women, but that has since fallen appart. As he was legaly married to one of them it would be interesting to see his takes on how different the legal status of the two women is now, as opposed to his claims that they were being legaly considered a 3 person marriage then.
