considering that whoever replaces him will probably pardon him (you know, for the sake of the national best interest )

I would prefer that they go the Vir Cotto route.

"I'd like to be there when they throw you in prison as a warning to the next ten generations that nobody is above the law. I want to look into your eyes as they haul you away in handcuffs and wave, like this. (waggled fingers) "

Paraphrased? I remember the line involving less of Morden's body than that.

Hopefully he will find out that while the Justice Department are reluctant to prosecute a sitting President, a former President? ... not so much.

Voted Planet X because what I think will happen:

  • President Trump will complete his second term
  • He will be reviled by most, but will still retain the support of 40% of the US population
  • He will split his time between "running" his businesses (or more accurately schilling for them and making public appearances) and attending Trump rallies to promote Ivanka's run at the presidency in 2028
  • He'll also be a permanent fixture on right wing media outlets schilling for his business and for Ivanka

He'll vanish into some wilderness or other* and a cult of the Living Trump will grow up among his worshippers. For generations, their increasingly horrible children** will be brought up on tales of His Orangeness, out there somewhere, readying His return in majesty, when He will shower covefe and hamberders on the hungering faithful, and

now I'm getting bored, making this carp up with no effort. Somebody want to turn it into a Tijuana bible? Hey, g'wan 'n strew your mess.

* Any nominations for where? 'Lantic City? Chernobyl? Detroit won't do, take it from this old skunk hunter.

** Cousin marriage is a wasting resource.

I see him doing squeegie work at the Holland Tunnel after the SDNY has finished with him. He'll have a sign that says Will Lie For Food

He'll never go away. I predict that, no matter how or when his presidency ends, he will ignore the near-unbroken tradition of former presidents staying quietly in the background. He'll conduct a shadow government where he'll tweet and send out spokespeople constantly to say what he would have done differently, how the person in office is only there due to lies and media bias against him (even if he serves two full terms), and braying about his latest pet conspiracy theory. Imagine it's 2030 and Trump is still watching far-right "news" and claiming there are servers the FOX had shipped to China full of detailed plans to undermine him.

I almost pity Mike Pence. If he inherits the office, he'll want to bring some sort of order and structure back to the federal agencies. Yet Trump will be calling in to some tv or radio show bemoaning the fact the Pence is betraying him.*

I believe you pretty much nailed it. Depressing as it is, it seems accurate.

*I don't actually pity Mike Pence. He tied his wagon to this particular star and it would only be the tentative beginnings of justice for former president Trump to turn on him.

I disagree. Trump will be so disgraced and facing so many criminal investigations that he will be toast. He may keep running his mouth and still may be tweeting but the press for the most part won't be covering. He'll be like the crazy old man ranting about the kids on his lawn. Loud and obnoxious who almost everyone wants to ignore.

I doubt Trump has any more interest in running a shadow government than he does in running a real one.

There's the Trump presidency as it is, and then there's West Wing fan fiction that progressives really believe.

He'll find out that the politicians and diplomats who have been flattering him, don't actually like him.

But will his real fans, the ones at the rallies, ever figure out that he doesn't actually like them?

West Wing fan fiction? ROFLMAO. :dl:

Such as? No one's a fan and I see very little fiction. You talked about civil and tolerant discourse. I asked you then why you would support the toxic and the least civil politician I've ever seen. You then disappeared.

You have a huge double standard.
