more importantly, Democrats have accepted that they have to take the issues brought by the Republicans seriously instead of treating them as the obvious trolling that they are.
I say this time, just let them drink the bleach, take the horse dewormer, and stare straight at the solar eclipse.

I don't think it makes any sense to suppose that everyone who voted for Trump will never be able to rationally reevaluate that choice.

That sort of thinking goes beyond skepticism and even cynicism on the way to misanthropy.
They'll need to get to that point on their own. If they decide to leave that nonsense behind, I'm all for lending a hand. But you can't drag anyone unwillingly. And I reserve the right to be skeptical of any transformations.

The more I think about it, the more I think maybe the question should be, "what didn't the Democrats do wrong?" In hindsight, it seems like the Democrats fractally bungled the entire thing. They somehow bungled the economy pitch. They somehow bungled the social issues pitch. They somehow lost ground with pretty much every minority voting demographic. They lost the popular vote. They lost the Senate. They lost the House. They kept Biden around too long. They got rid of Biden too late in the game. They replaced Biden with perhaps the worst possible candidate in this cycle. They had no other choice because they somehow bungled the entire strategic plan for the post-Biden era. I wouldn't be surprised if they lost votes over both Ukraine and Israel. Is there anything the Democrats did right? Is "right" even valid attribute, for a losing campaign? They won Oregon. Does that count?

I mean, "[t]hey replaced Biden" as you said. Too little, too late, but it was the right move and significantly tightened up the odds.

Haha what.

Yes, Democrats really need to tighten up their strategizing so they can keep up with the guy who blurted out “They’re eating the pets” during a debate and pretended to fellate a microphone on the campaign trail. Discipline and cogent messaging, that’s definitely how Trump won the election.

I think Harris could have done worse - she could have played up identity politics, noted her own historical candidacy more often, been more vitriolic towards republicans, etc. That being said, I think the dissolution of the states to a more EU type agreement is probably inevitable and desirable.

Is it really fair to blame the Democrats for anything? A third of eligible voters don't even bother voting. There's all your swing states and wrestling around the 50 yard line and undecided mouth breathers with a couple of orders of magnitude to spare. You could probably spitball estimate that around half of voters in each of the big parties are only loosely aware of practical governance and are voting one way or the other out of habit or vague ideas.

The Dems didn't do anything wrong. They were exactly who they were. Americans are too well fed and entertained to get serious about governance. We ◊◊◊◊ around.

If you want to say that replacing Biden with Harris at the eleventh hour was one of the things that they did right, go ahead and say it. I'll spot you one item on your list of things Democrats didn't do wrong.

I mean, I guess you could say Harris was “the worst possible candidate in this cycle” in the sense that she didn’t campaign on conspiracy theories and anti-vaxxerism because that’s clearly what Trump voters wanted, but that would be profoundly stupid.

Yes, because if there’s anything that Trump voters hate it’s vitriol and identity politics. Just absolute topnotch analysis.

I think it's entirely fair. Nobody blames the customer when the salesman can't make a sale.

Biden sticking around too long was definitely a mistake, but once the debate happened the best move was shifting to Harris. Harris ran a solid campaign, with no major gaffes, good deployment of resources, excellent campaign infrastructure and a strong, hopeful, positive message for the future.

Unfortunately, Kamala Harris was not running against Donald Trump, she was running against Donald Trump and Imaginary Fox News Kamala Harris.

Yep, that it, asking someone to stop insulting others, that's dishonest, you tell everyone you meet exactly what you think of them all the time? Those pants make you look fat! Bob, WTF happened to you face?
So.. don't do what the republicans do, it only works for them?

I don't like salesmen. I find them manipulative and wanting me to act for their own benefit, not mine. I usually slam my wallet tight when one opens their mouth.

If the customer doesn’t want to buy the perfectly normal thing the salesman is selling because they’d rather have a flaming bag of dog ◊◊◊◊, the problem might be with the customer.
