What book is everyone reading at the moment? Part 2.

Got bought this at Christmas:

It's a funny read. Recommend it.

(The author is a comedian who posts gentle humour in sketches on Youtube. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChYARX5Yj8CapM-F2Z2vPxA )

I'd go with John Reid.
The name Reid's well-established. In creating The Green Hornet, Striker also re-used a character, Michael Axford, that he had created for an earlier mystery series, Manhunters. "John" was never used as Reid's first name in Striker's radio scripts, but was applied in a comic strip and later in comic books, as well as in the TV show an at least two movies.

William Boyd, Gabriel's Moon. I had forgotten about him, and what a good writer he is, glad I rediscovered him! This is a spy story of sorts - of the almost John le Carré, or even Graham Greene, sort, in fact. Not as many shades of grey, not quite that kind of depth, but close, and thoroughly enjoyable and well-written. Can recommend!

I finished The Martian, and then Artemis, both by Andy Weir. Both quite good, I'm looking forward to Project Hail Mary, also by Weir.

I also read The Girls in the Garden by Lisa Jewell. A story about a (temporarily) single mother with two young daughters who move into a London community built around a large park, and an assault (and death?) that happens to one of those daughters. Lots of suspects among both the adults and young teens the two daughters mix with in their new neighborhood. Told from several viewpoints, including the girls, it's a pretty interesting mystery. I had never heard of this author but she has several other books on Kindle Unlimited and I'll definitely read more.
