RandiFan:
Keep us posted on the fund raising. I don't have much to offer (going through a seperation, all the bills just double
), but I'd be more than happy to send what I can, and I'm sure there are plenty of other members here who could at the very least get you started. I know the medical insuarance system here is bad at best. I wonder if Paypal offers some kind of option for things like this?
Excercise wise, I'm sure you've probably looked into a lot of options, but I thought I might give myself and my (soon to be ex)wife's experience with that particular monster. Straight up, neither of us likes to excercise, but three years ago she was about 50lbs overweight, and got determined to lose it. She got into a contest with my sister, and they both excercised very regularly, and over the next year, she dropped the weight. (Me, on the other hand, managed to put on about 10lbs). However, as she got close to her target weight, she excercised less, was less concious of her eating, and ended up hovering 20lbs away from where she wanted to be.
Then we met a nice couple who owned a Dojo and Dance studio, and became very interested in the programs they offered (Nothing related to weight loss BTW). My wife got interested in belly dancing, and just dove into it, and me, I started taking a Japanese swordsmanship class. These were hobbies, we certianly weren't thinking of health reasons for it, but in the process, she lost the rest of the weight, and has stayed there.
Anyway, the point of all that is, excercise doesn't have to be getting on a treadmill, or going to the gym. For me and my wife, it was finding something that we really wanted to do, that happened to get us out of the house and on our feet.
As you've been looking for help, you've probably heard this all before, but since it wasn't in the thread, thought I'd toss it out there for everyone
