Enough of this kind of politics I am switching to independent. It was bad enough that the union called me up and told me to vote no on the recall, but coming after my kids? What next?

"Basically, we're doing Chicago-style politics at the California level," said Bob Mulholland, a spokesman for the state's Democratic Party. "The ward captain will be knocking on the door if they haven't been to the polls. And we know where their children live."

 WTF? Ok, I can see going door-to-door even, as long as your people are polite. But what's this about kids?

I can't even believe the columnist dropped a bomb like that without any more context or details.

I can't believe that this is not the lead. This is the same guy who told Arnold he would have to duck real bullets soon.

"Good evening. I've come to encourage you to avail yourself of the democratic process."

Well it looks like I'm not the only one who is tired of Gray Davis type politics. Bye Bye Gray Hello Arnie

Do people actually follow union or newspaper endorcements?? As if i care what they say.

Wouldn't that be corruption of the process? Shouldn't it be an informed and freely given vote?

Which is why Davis is being so severely trounced. The democrats don't have a message so they have to resort to dirty tricks.

I voted for Trek Thunder Kelly. Maybe he'll pull through from behind and win.

If not, we can have another recall, and get MORE people running. We can even get so many involved that we raise the statistical likelihood that Mickey Mouse wins as a write in.

I'm a bit miffed that none of the TV carriers did a California Debate thing with ALL of the candidates. One lousy debate with 3/167 people. We could have had them go in small groups to debate each other, then had the most popular ones from each round head for higher debate rounds in a double-elimination fashion. Like a "Reality" TV show. "Who wants to be Governor" It's not as if they couldn't have given a whole 15 minute's worth of screen time to every single candidate at a reasonable time-slot for these past months.

Oh well, we can recall a governor as often as we like now, so we can have a never-ending circus.

Now if only judges and sherrifs and other political figures got this treatment.

Maybe that would be a worthy goal:

Let's start automatically doing a "recall" campaign every time an election is completed and a governor is sworn in. Let's see how often we can get these guys turned over.

I'd sign a "Let's recall %s for the heck of it!" campaign!

Reminds me of when I was living in Philly, and near election day I left the following answering message on my answering machine:

"This is ###-####, election day is coming up. Remember that if you hurry, you can vote in at least three states!"

The local democratic party call-up crew called up to remind us to vote and ended up leaving this message:

"This is <blank> from the democratic party, jst calling to remind you that..uuhhh, never mind, I think you're ahead of the game..."

I never got another call from them.
