Has anyone else come across Vortex Healing?

Or perhaps its lead man Ric Weinman?

Their web site is certainly entertaining, especially the Merlin and ‘research’ sections.

Sign me up for the Lifeform Level. When I was in Sedona I had one of the gents at the information center explain to me what all the little vortex icons on the free tourist map were. Silly me, I thought they were areas of intense dust devil activity. Boy, was I wrong. ;)

The VortexHealing Trainings may be grouped into 6 different levels:
  1. Basic Level: Basic Training, Clearing the Kundalini Channel, Unwinding the Fascia.
  2. Advanced Level: Advanced Training, Karmic Intensive, Sensing in the Body, Merlin's Puzzle.
  3. MultiFrequency Level: MultiFrequency & Merlin's Jewel, Breaking TimeLines, Genetics
  4. LifeForm Level: LifeForm, Heart, InterDimensional Vortex
  5. Jewel Level: Omega, Karmic & Energetic Bodies Release, Advanced Sensing, Body and Heart of Merlin’s Jewel, Essence and Divine Magic, Jewel

I have family who are totally into it, with no way of making them see any sense. I’ve come to terms by considering it to be a rather expensive religion, and a bit of a laugh. However, I feel morally obliged to try and do something if they start to advertise, practice and charge ‘patients’ themselves. Any advice?
 
Unwinding the Fascia AND clearing the Kundalini?:boggled: I don't know about clearing the Kundalini channel, but unwinding your fascia would probably result in your muscles falling off.

At the very least, it would be extremely painful, and would probably result in severe infections.

Of course, a more interesting question would be how your fascia got wound up in the first place. Seems that you'd have more serious problems to worry about than uncleared Kundalini channels if that happened.

Offer them the $million challenge. It normally kills any woo argument dead. Just try "if you can heal someone with your vortex healing as you claim then why don't you take the JREF challenge". I guarantee they will make excuses after excuses but keep at em' eventually the cracks will show in their stupid beliefs.

You should go all nuts about the chance of winning the millon. That way they can't be angry at you. And when they say: well maybe it... You say: A million dollar baby! Just do it!

Apparently, Vortex Healing channels "intelligent" energy :confused: , which wouldn't approve of such a test!

Reminds me of Sunday school teachings about how we shouldn't test God (ex-catholic here).

At least discussions about the $million challenge have stopped the believers trying to convert me, but their enthusiasm hasn’t waned any and plans to open a 'clinic' are continuing.

I particularly liked their explanation of the Merlin connection...

The modern founder of VortexHealing is Ric Weinman. Ric re-discovered VortexHealing in November, 1994 and began teaching it about 9 months later, as a healing art and to assist the process of spiritual awakening. Since then he has also empowered other teachers to teach VortexHealing.
The older history of VortexHealing has a long and rich tradition. It began with a man named Mehindra who lived about 5600 years ago. Although most human beings have long karmic histories in which they have struggled within the experience of separation, there are always a few beings on the earth that are born into humanness directly from Wholeness, directly from divine consciousness. Each such being brings a unique aspect of divine consciousness into manifestation. Mehindra was such a being. The aspect of the divine he manifests is magical transformation.
After his death, Mehindra brought 7 other beings like himself together to form a divine "healing realm" and used his own energy and consciousness to form a link between that healing realm and human consciousness, which is how VortexHealing got its name. In 753 B.C., a man living in what is now England, who was close to enlightenment, received the gift of VortexHealing and specific Vortex meditations as a divine revelation from a being who appeared in his consciousness while he was meditating. This being (who was Mehindra) called himself "Merlin." (The name Merlin was chosen because that name best represented, in English, the vibrational quality of transformation magic that he was manifesting.) Working with this divine gift, the man became enlightened and began to pass the gift on to other people by the process of direct consciousness transmission. Later in his life he passed on the ability to teach VortexHealing to selected students. He also started the tradition that if a teacher within the lineage reached a sufficient level of attunement to Merlin, he was given the name Merlin. Thus the name Merlin was both a title and a way to honor the divine being who still manifests and maintains this healing art. Historically, there were 28 teachers, 12 of which were Merlins. The Merlin associated with King Arthur was the fifth one. But the 12th Merlin did not find anyone he could empower to carry on the teachings after him. So, in 1247 A.D. the lineage died out, until Merlin, who is still the source and divine power of VortexHealing, manifested a visionary experience for Ric Weinman, in 1994, that reactivated his memory of studying VortexHealing in two past lives.

Why do these sorts of things always have levels? I would say it was so the vortex can suck in more money, but that would make me cynical.

Why do they always have frequencies? If there were such a thing as a "Homeopathic Crystal" what good would do me to vibrate at its fundamental frequency?
 
These things also always seem to involve past lives - something I've found to be an excuse for mistakes and anxiety happening in the present. :(

It's also one of the hooks: "Oh, I sense you were a great healer* in a past life!"

* insert psychic/medium/whatever as appropriate

The first level generally doesn't involve being able to do much (note that in the current example, "sensing in the body" doesn't come in until the "advanced level", and "Clearing the Kundalini Channel, Unwinding the Fascia" offered as part of the "basic level" don't really mean anything much) so that people can be persuaded that they've achieved their "basic training".

A bit like yogic flying. Loads of people master the first level of that (bouncing up and down on mattresses) but there doesn't seem to be any evidence that anyone has progressed further.
