US kidnapped Aristide

I heard some senators interviewing General Noriega (of the US, not pineapple face) on just this issue. Basically, he couldn't answer a yes/no question and dodged every question they put to him on it. Sounds like Aristide was right.

"A Unique Person" is absolutely correct here, except for three small details:

1). Noriega isn't (and never was) a general:

http://www.state.gov/r/pa/ei/biog/4708.htm

2). He not only could, but in fact did, answer the yes/no questions asked by the lawmakers in Congress:

http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/news/2004/03/mil-040303-34e7f947.htm

(Note in particular: "Mr. Noriega flatly denied allegations Mr. Aristide was forcibly removed from Haiti, adding that he was "not aware" of any involvement by the C-I-A in the Haitian leader's departure."; and the location and time--last Wednesday, in front of the the House of Representative's "Western Hemisphere Subcommittee")

3). He didn't dodge any questions, at least according to the reports in mainstream media sources:

http://quote.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000087&sid=aptKDL.Bzyro&refer=home

Buy EXCEPT for THAT, AUP's description is perfectly accurate.

After all, it appeared on the august web site, www.truthout.org , a web site well-known for its objective, impassionate, and factual views--as exemplified by op-eds like "Al Gore, an American President in Exile" and "80 Failures in 100 Shrub Daze" (sic; an article about Bush's 100 first days in office).

It sure doesn't take much to convince AUP of silly conspiracy theories, does it? As long as they blame the USA (or the jews) of evil, nefarious acts, of course.

Yep, he's not a general, I confused his title between hearing his testimony on the radio and writing the topic.

As for Bloomberg. Someone has already cited that, and I heard a completely different version to what it has reported, with my own ears.

Ditto, a military site.

I heard the guy, with my own ears. He was dodging the questions. Lets just look at the outcome. Aristide, gone. Baby Doc, back. You tell me if that is a good outcome for Haiti.

Powell sounds like he is glad to have Baby Doc back in town, in preference to Aristide. Aristide, for all his problems, does not sound like he is anywhere in the same league. And he was democratically elected.

Do you have a link to a source that says that Duvalier has returned to Haiti? I can't find a source that claims he is, other than you.

What did Powell say that leads you to believe he is happy that Baby Doc has returned?

According to this, and it is quoting a US Congressman, he was kidnapped.

1). The "US Congressman" in question is as much of a "man" as "general" Noriega is a general. You're showing your usual standard of accuracy.

2). The woman, Maxine Waters, also believes that the CIA sold crack in the black community, a conspiracy theory that was refuted repeatedly, among other nonsense of that nature.

But then again, I'm sure you believe that, too, AUP.

OK, He wants to return. What I read was that there are previous henchmen of his in the vanguard of the rebels. My mistake.

Powell is happy that Haiti has a chance to try again for a democratic solution. My problem with all this is that, after Afghanistan and Iraq, what the US wants is just going to turn out to be more turmoil and the confusion, the kind of atmosphere for the bad guys to come out on top.

Genuine, pro-democracy people wanted Aristide gone. However, it appears that the thugs from the previous regime will be the ones to benefit from the upset

I have no trust whatsoever in your recollection of what you think you "heard with your own ears". Those are the same ears that apparently "heard" Noriega was a general and rep. Maxine is a man.

I have much higher trust in official transcripts by reputable stations. Why should I take your word over their report? You certainly have no credibility to speak of, Mr. "the zionists control the US media".

OK, He wants to return. What I read was that there are previous henchmen of his in the vanguard of the rebels. My mistake.

But this is at least the third or fourth boneheaded factual mistake you made in your "factual claims" about Haiti in your last four or five posts alone, AUP.

You're not exactly inspiring confidence, to put it mildly, in your grasp of the facts.

what the US wants is just going to turn out to be more turmoil and the confusion, the kind of atmosphere for the bad guys to come out on top.

Your crystal ball is very good in predicting "US-led debacles" in the future, AUP; unfortunately, it seems to be a bit cloudy regarding what actually happened today.

P.S.

It's unfortunate the "bad guys" come out on top after US intervention leads to confusion, isn't it? As opposed to the good old days of stability and certainty, before the US intervention, when good guys like Mr. Omar of the taliban or Mr. Saddam of the Ba'ath part were on top...

Perhaps you should quit while you're...
while you're less behind than you would otherwise be.
Not that I really care about your credibility here or anything, but you seem pretty damned foolish keeping this thing going, AUP.
