Upcoming riots from the elections: how bad will they be

Just a thought:

In 2020 trump claimed he only 'lost' to Biden because the election was rigged. The magamutts bought it and they were outraged. Doubtless if trump loses this time around he'll make the same claim. He lost due to vote fraud and the rigging of the election.

But if the magamutts were outraged and angry about trump losing to Biden -- Biden not only being a man but a white man -- what's going to happen if trump loses to Kamala Harris, not only a woman but a woman of color?

Doesn't matter this time. No matter who it is Trump will claim it was rigged. The big difference is that Biden will actually defend the capital from Trumps stooges.

Not in Portland. If Trump wins, there will be vandalism, arson, and looting in downtown Portland, and not a MAGA in sight. Lots of keffiyehs and Palestinian flags, though.

Same is true in Europe today. Left riots, not conservatives-even if the left wins...still riot.. Speech and flags of your OWN country are not illegal or damaging.. but the left call it racist and get triggered by them. My own flag? A-friggen-mazing. Cognitive damage due to ramming unreal fears to vulnerable groups who want to "root for rights". Good intentions turned sideways. The actual real life documented fears are discounted.
- including their own protests.

Other than a few hours on Jan 6, I cannot think of any right leaning gathering causing any decent damage via riot/ looting/burning/ death.

Maybe I missed it among the hundreds of devastating lefty riots since 2014.

Eta :no police died on Jan 6th,in case the usual ketards show up here. None. Nada.
One woman protester was shot and killed by capitol security.. That was it.

none so blind as those who will not see

Are you saying this is wrong or misguided??
Then give facts and stats and news stories with % comparisons of deaths and property damage... Just one unbiased overall report for trends in violence left vs right.

Just do it if it is so obvious. I'll look at it!
If you were agreeing then never mind. Your 'old adage' post isn't clear on intention.

what, at all, does property damage matter?

Is property more important than people, as Rittenhouse was told to believe and kill for?
Right-wingers driving into crowds of protesters, that is actually Bad.
Jan 6th rioters beating cops with fire extinguishers and bearmacing them, that is actually Bad.

Compared to Wage Theft, damage property in the wake of protests is negligible.

Yeah we've seen what happens when the right wing riots. It's a disorganised rabble. January 6th was a terrible day, but it was hardly civil war material.

There is no reason to loot and burn businesses and homes. This is a sign of hooligans and should never be excused or embraced as a protest tactic in a civilized community. People died, including kids and police officers.

Four protesters died on 6 January 2021. Two of those four (Kevin Greeson and Benjamin Phillips) died of natural causes related to pre-existing cardiovascular conditions; Greeson never made it into the Capitol; Phillips had organized a caravan of protesters, but his family later claimed he himself was not one of the protesters. QAnon believer Rosanne Boyland also participated in the protest and died outside the Capitol, of amphetamine poisoning.

Capitol Policeman Brian Sicknick suffered two strokes on the evening of the riot and died the next day. After being sprayed with pepper spray, Sicknick washed his face and returned to the fray, but collapsed later that evening.

According to the general accounting office, 114 members of law enforcement were injured during the riot.

Well over a thousand protesters have been charged with federal crimes, almost a thousand have been sentenced, and more than five hundred have been sentenced to jail or prison time.

Yes, some Trump apologists will call you a "ketard" if you remind them that a hundred or more law enforcement officers were injured while defending democracy against more than two thousand rioters who successfully assaulted and then entered the US Capitol.

Ah, I see.

I guess you have never heard of the Boston Tea Party.

In fairness, the vast majority of those claiming to be injured (it's a self reported statistic) did not seek medical treatment. A cynic might say they might have been motivated to snag some line of duty enhanced benefits/compensation. I mean, there's a difference between a boo-boo you got at work and a combat casualty.

That's just kind of... Portland though, isn't it?

Nationally, no rioting this time around, no matter who wins, im betting. Maybe some grumbling here and there but no J6 this time around, and the Biden supporters don't riot anyway (no, the George Floyd/BLM protests weren't related to the Presidency, but to cops killing black people).
Well, that's optimistic, no matter who wins.

IMHO it will reach a de facto civil war level.
Well, thats...., calling it pessimistic is a childish understatement.

My apologies for starting this thread. I should have known it would immediately be dragged down into the muck with mindless, childish drool.
That was quite silly of you.

Its hard to imagine there will not be rioting. I think more widespread if trump wins but more pointed and gross if Trump wins.

True, but if the boo-boo you got at work happens to have been while working to suppress an insurrection, the distinction blurs a little. Not that I credit most police with an excess of integrity, nor would discount the possibility that they waited until they knew which way the wind was blowing. But it was a riot intended to overthrow the government, and in a proper world the cops should not have had to be there at all. It's bad form to try to sneak under the flaps of the tent, but the circus was in town.

I had to look up "ketard," which seems to have something to do with diet fads, and still have no idea what possible relevance it has to this discussion. Is it just me, or is there something the matter when a word meant to imply stupidity is stupider than its object?

Me too. Possibly a contraction of 'snowflake retard'?

I've still got kind of a hitch on this one. Many security types are pretty right leaning, if not downright authoritarian, IME anyway. So how much of J6 was more like inter-party infighting? Puts kind of a weird apin on it, but accounts for why more protesters weren't laying in bullet-ridden piles on the Capitol steps.

Never heard it before either, but reminded me of "soy boy" and got the gist. In a slow grade schooler level of name calling, anyway. Can't these cats take a tip from the Bard and crank out some clever barbs?

I’m not sure there’ll be riots, but rather other examples of the PA lone nutter assassination attempt, or maybe a few Proud Boys types doing something else stupid. And probably a MAGA truck convoy as usual.

I assumed it was a Keto diet thing (my wife is into it a little) like the way some conservatives mock gluten free proponents.

That's a funny one, plenty of lefty mock gluten free folks too, at least in my circles. Never so much political valence to gluten free or mocking gluten free.

I dunno. I'm not taking bets. Right now, both sides of the political spectrum are riling up their bases with claims that the other side spells the end of democracy. Both sides are guilty of fanning the flames, and nothing good can come of it.

They are already setting the stage with the idea that Biden dropping out signals the end of democracy. Setting the state to say that because there (essentially) no primaries, Harris will never be legitimate.

I think they are going to say that any win by Harris in November is meaningless because she was never truly the Democratic candidate because no primaries.

Also birtherism 2.0 and any other number of inane conspiracy theories.
What is the Supreme Court going to say?
