Understanding the Liberal Mindset

Woke is to liberalism as MAGA is to conservatism, i.e. zealotry. Glad I could clear that up.
No it's not. It's a term created by the far right to demonize the left. The right uses the term to describe any position they oppose as "woke." Is it woke to support civil rights? Is it "woke" to be in favor of health care for everyone?" Is it woke to support free and fair elections? Is it woke to believe the law should be enforced equally regardless of income, station, race, or sex?

Instead of telling us a general term like zealotry, tell us precisely what policy positions that you know are supported by the left that are "woke" and which ones aren't. Otherwise it's just a meaningless BS term that the right throws at the left that covers whatever they want.

All of which are enshrined in classical liberalism.

Woke is being perpetually offended about perceived microaggressions, among others.

That may be how you use it. But the fact is Republicans/MAGA/Conservatives us the term exactly as I described. And do this constantly. They use it a slur for anyone on the left. And your YouTube video has nothing to with it.

I get it now: "liberalism" means not being a racist, sexist piece of ◊◊◊◊, and "woke" means criticising people for being racist, sexist pieces of ◊◊◊◊.

I can see why the right are against it.

No, woke means making a video instructing White women the STFU when Black women are talking. That's what the video I posted was referencing.

Which is...woke...extreme left zealotry.

Do you STFU when Black women are speaking and write everything down? If so, you may have the woke mind virus. Do you have Ibram X Kendi, Robin DiAngelo and Andrea Dworkin's books artfully arranged on your coffee table and are constantly quoting from them? Yep, more symptons.

Total nonsense. There are definitely people that are silly on the left. But "woke" has become a general slur term that the right uses to paint people on the left with a broad brush.

right, it's an insult. you're calling someone or something an extreme left zealot when you use it, which is an insulting thing to call someone.

edit

which is the interesting thing about it i suppose. they define the opposition extreme left zealots, but these are people who call acknowledgement and concern about their grifting con man who steals money from his supporters leaders as deranged. so i'd have to question their judgement if they can even identify a problematic ideology or not.

It has, yes. and deservedly so.

Nobody is calling civil rights, free and fair elections, universal healthcare (except maybe some Americans) or equal application of the law "woke".

In the US, and UK, Libertarians, however, are generally right wing, and there is often confusion between that term and Liberal (more so, as already noted, when both terms have different meanings in different countries).
Yeah I just saw this thread and didn't know whether non US people could contribute as the definitions are different.
edit: the political compass idea helps.
