I can't be bothered to find out about MSNBC, but I'm going to guess that you're wrong.

I'm willing to bet my eternal soul that the book of Revelations mentions neither Muslims nor MUSLIMS. How Biblically illiterate does one have to be to fall for that type of scare mongering?

My folks have been into the whole "end of the world is coming, the anti-Christ is imminent" thing for as much of my 41 years as I can remember. They read a particular book, or get an email, that identifies so-and-so as the newest anti-Christ, and they embrace it enthusiastically.

Reagan, Gorbachev, bin Laden, Ayatollah Khomeini, Bush Sr., Saddam, etc.,...they've all been pegged by my parents at one time or another as the anti-Christ. (Curiously enough, while they suspected Bush Sr. for awhile, they've never questioned Bush jr.)

What's more, it appears that they just can't wait for the end times to come. They're not predicting these things in hopes of preventing them...they are predicting them in anticipation that the end times are finally upon us! They are ardent Israel-watchers (and have visited Israel at least three times), eager to interpret everything that happens there in terms of Biblical prophecy.

By the same token, they see Satan in everything. They won't watch a ventriloquist act, convinced that he really is throwing his voice using occult powers. Anything that can be related to the number 666 is almost concrete proof of Satanic involvement. And any time you commit a sin, no matter how small, you are invaded by an evil spirit, and only a special ceremony (similar to an exorcism) can release you from that spirit's influence.

So I could very easily see my parents falling for this stuff. I know for a fact (as I noted elsewhere) that they are ardent Palin fans, and don't like Obama at all (because of those nasty Muslim roots...compared with Palin's literal-minded adherence to conservative Christian orthodoxy).

I doubt if many of the recipients of that email know the Bible well enough to see through the supposed quote. But they aren't concerned with accuracy anyway: they're of the same mindset and are happy to embrace any outrageous, half-assed ideas that "prove" they're right about Obama.

ETA: Well, I was a recipient also but that's because this guy tries to mess with me, he knows I'm a liberal and he just likes to piss me off.

I guess expecting Bible followers to know the details about when the Bible was written is too much. The Book of Revelation precedes Islam by 500 years.

No, these are the loons. Most citizens of the USA are, after all, for Obama, and most of the rest of 'em seem quite nice, though I disagree with them. And then there are the loons.

I mentioned two ways that Pinkerton was dumb, everyone's just posted about the first. The second was where he explained that this stuff about Lucifer is: "how you win a presidential campaign, even amidst hard times for your party".

Someone I work with has actually declared most of this fact. Note that she hates Kerry solely on the grounds that "he is so ugly" and doesn't put any stock in polls because they haven't personally asked her or anyone she knows.
 
The anti-christ is a liar; we can all agree on that.

so,

If we asked Obama, straight up, "Are you the anti-christ?" and he said "No" , wouldn't that pretty much prove that he was it?

If he answers "Yes, I am the anti-christ" , than we would know that he was not the anti-christ.

(I can't stand the suspense!)
