I think an actual Russian agent would appear and sound much more professional, and be far more intelligent. The point of the job would be to look and sound plausibly working for American interests.

How could a failed NY property developer and second tier TV celebrity become POTUS without making a deal with a demonic entity; a deal that would have to have involved a significant virgin sacrifice. It is like none of you have read the Laundry Files.

Agents don't have to be smart. They have to be loyal (which can be achieved in many ways) and expendable. Trump was rich and relatively powerful since young age, he was IMHO the perfect target.
