Trump's Second Term

8 Wars

Trump on why he wanted Machado's Nobel Prize: "Well, she offered it to me. I thought it was very nice. She said, 'You've ended 8 wars and nobody deserves this prize more in history than you.' I thought it was a very nice gesture. And by the way I think she's a very fine woman and we'll be talking again."

She's playing him like the senile, addled narcissist he is.

I love how he looks like a walking corpse, though😊.

Q: Can you explain how your great healthcare plan will affect Americans' health insurance premiums?

TRUMP: It is a tremendous thing. It is called the great healthcare plan. And we're gonna get tremendous, uh, reductions through, uh, if you look at medicines and prescription drugs, they're gonna come down by numbers that have never been seen before I have no ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ clue about that, but it will make trillions for me!

And every time he looks at it he will be reminded he never got one of his own.

No he won't. He doesn't have the conceptual thinking to understand the difference between having the trinket and being judged worthy of the award. He has the shiny shinys, that makes him a Nobel laureate, an Olympian and a footballer.

He's not the first person to have been given a Nobel prize by the recipient.

Awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1920, Knut Hamsun (1859-1952) was a towering figure of Norwegian letters. He was also a Nazi sympathizer and supporter of the German occupation of Norway during the Second World War. In 1943, Hamsun sent his Nobel medal to Third-Reich propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels as a token of his admiration and authored a reverential obituary for Hitler in May 1945. For decades, scholars have wrestled with the dichotomy between Hamsun's merits as a writer and his infamous ties to Nazism.

In her incisive study of Hamsun, Monika Zagar refuses to separate his political and cultural ideas from an analysis of his highly regarded writing. Her analysis reveals the ways in which messages of racism and sexism appear in plays, fiction, and none-too-subtle nonfiction produced by a prolific author over the course of his long career. In the process, Zagar illuminates Norway's changing social relations and long history of interaction with other peoples.

This is a major reason why I have no loyalty toward ANY Political Party. I want to be able to call out corruption and stupidity wherever it pops up.
Right now the GOP is much, much worse then the Democrats, but the Dems have their own problems.
Honestly, I fault this reasoning. Being part of some group does NOT mean that you can't call out corruption and stupidity where ever it pops up, including within the group. Rather, calling out actual corruption and stupidity from within a group is a positive, especially when a group is as large and loose as a political party. Yes, just about all large groups have their own problems, but a key difference is how they handle such. For quite a while now, Democrats have largely acted to try to hold their own accountable when it actually is reasonable, while Republicans have largely acted to shield their own from accountability. Actions speak louder than words, quite frankly.

Normally this is an excuse for "If I claim to be unafiliated I can vote for the bad guys, criticise the better party and still claim moral superiority when the inevitable happens thanks to my vote.

When I went from being a Republican to another 'party' - I purposely went to Independent instead of Democrat, yeah, I find faults in both sides. However, I have to add that the Republicans are well down at the bottom of the fault pit while the Democrats are hovering around 'better than the Republicans', and not much else;

That's nonsense, though. Democrats aren't having people shot for exercising free speech. Democrats aren't going door to door terrorising people. Democrats aren't starting wars with our allies. The Republicans are trying to bring Apartheid to the USA.

The "both sides do it" narrative is nonsense and has been since it was first uttered. If Democrats had control of all three branches, and a Democrat POTUS decided to do the things Trump is doing, Democrats would impeach and remove that person, with the support of Republicans.
Democrats aren't just better than Republicans, they are progressively trying to make the country a better place to live for all people, not just the wealthy, white men.

Pretty much. It is easy to find reasonable complaints about the Democratic Party, certainly, but overall, what the Democratic Party and Republican Party do and stand for are like day and night. The Democratic Party may well be a dismal day in that comparison, but it's so very much better than the never-ending blizzard night that the Republican Party would be.

Canadians vote with thier wallets and tariff with gas shipment cuts.

Tourism has crashed and Canada needs the gas to ship to Asia for a profit. And it doesn't hurt its flipping trimp a huge bird.

They may be stepping onto his front burner on purpose. They aren't backing down to anything now. By just playing the game his way in small things would make him.look a lot less the clueless orange oaf. It isn't happening.
