Trump's Second Term

Tariffs working well.

The maker of Jim Beam bourbon whiskey says it will halt production at its main site in Kentucky for all of next year.

"We are always assessing production levels to best meet consumer demand and recently met with our team to discuss our volumes for 2026."

Distillers in Kentucky - famous for its bourbon - face uncertainty, in part, due to US President Donald Trump's trade policies.

In October, the Kentucky Distillers' Association (KDA) trade body said the amount of bourbon in warehouses across the state was at a record high of more than 16 million barrels.

According to the association, the barrels of bourbon, which are taxed by the state, have cost distillers "a crushing" $75m (£56m) this year.

US distillers have faced retaliatory import taxes on their goods after Trump's so-called "Liberation Day" announcement in April saw the US imposing tariffs on most countries around the world.

I wonder if Kegstand will send in troops to occupy the distillery and re-start production.

Battleships

Trump: They will also have hypersonic weapons, state-of-the-art rail guns and even high powered lasers. You aim the laser at a target, it just wipes it out. They will be the most sophisticated lasers in the world and the most sophisticated laser in the world will be on the battleships that we are building. It will also carry the nuclear armed cruise missiles currently under development

Spending money like it isn't his.

As usual.

Trump: "We're also going to be talking about buybacks. They spend so much money on buybacks. They want to buy back their stock. I don't want them to buy back their stock. I want them to put the money in plant and equipment so they can build these planes fast, rapidly, like, immediately. I've sold more planes than any president by far times probably 20."

I suppose the military should be glad he doesn't like horses too or they would be back to fielding cavalry. But on horses bred to be bigger than any horses ever. You'd need a stepladder.

I mean, a battleship. Holy cow. A battleship. Nobody has built a battleship in eighty years. Does he imagine people just forgot how to build battleships one day?

Phelan: For the first time in generations, we will have a new leg in America's nuclear deterrence because the Trump class battleship will carry the nuclear armed sea launch cruise missile.
And you know, I suppose, that for generations that job has been done by submarines. Submarines which are a whole hell of a lot harder to spot and attack than would be a gigantic floating target like a bloody battleship.

Aesthetic

Trump: The U.S. Navy lead the design of the ships along with me because I'm a very aesthetic person

How about land battleships? I can imagine a design about a thousand tonnes with 11" guns, and maybe we could call it the "Landcruser1000" because we'd want to reference the weight in the name.

I'm sure that would intimidate all America's enemies.
