Trump's Second Term

America the Beautiful. Where the wealthy get wealthier and everyone else gets screwed. If your not a millionaire, bend over and grit your teeth. Because they ain't using any lube.

Bet on it. Trump is involved. The bigger story will be how soon the whole Ponzi scheme that is the Trump administration is going to collapse like one of Trump's casinos, inevitably taking the USA with it.

Trump may end up being shot against a village wall by partisans while trying to escape the country, and have his rotting corpse strung up from a gas station canopy for public humiliation. And his fawning handlers could easily suffer similar fates. But none of that will alleviate the cesspit that the USA will be in by that time.

So what are you going to do about it now?
When Germany, Japan and Italy were defeated, the U.S. stepped in to rebuild them. When the U.S. is destroyed, there will be nobody there to rebuild it. The survivors can look forward to the breakup, and Civil War II.

With respect to the massive $175 billion given to ICE, it's possible the funding could turn the organization into a highly efficient one that, by using a variety of sources locates, arrests, and deports every person who is in the USA illegally and has been criminally charged and convicted. With an estimated 12-16 million in the States illegally and as of October 2024 about half a million of them with criminal convictions, the budget allows for $350,000 for each convicted person.

Unfortunately, I doubt this will happen. I'm quite concerned what ICE will do with its huge budget.
Buy new masks and non-uniforms for its thugs, mostly.

Reporter: Why was the national weather service not pinging their phones before 7.. Was it a fundamental failure of the federal government’s responsibility to keep us safe?

Noem: Trump is currently upgrading the technology in the national weather service.. we needed to renew this ancient system that has been left in place with the federal government.

Donald gave Iran permission to attack a US base because they respect the USA.

TRUMP They called me to tell me they have to take a shot at us. This was Iran, very respectful. That means they respect as. Because we dropped 14 bombs, they said we would like to take 14 shots, I said go ahead I understand

So back when we bombed them my immediate thought was, somebody probably told them ahead of time what was going to happen. Because why not? I don't think they could have stopped it. For two countries that don't talk there is a lot of yammering going on. It fascinates me to hear Trump give what may actually be an accurate summary of the conversation. Or maybe the conversation never took place, with him you never known.

I'm cynical, and am not shocked by him saying "go ahead I understand." Is this going to rub some people the wrong way? Shouldn't it be a little shocking to hear a U.S. president encourage attacking a U.S. base?

I don't understand how others manage to follow this kind of forums over time and manage to resist the urge to post critical messages.
I post on "r/conservative" sometimes. I don't think they've banned me, they just take down my posts at some point. Anyway I'm not there to argue, I want to learn how these people think. I will correct errors of fact or point out if someone is misreading a story that has been posted. It's not really an argument forum, more like a conservative bulletin board with people commenting on articles.

And they are not always wrong, either. Some people make decent points. These are often drenched in condescending caricature of "leftists" but I ignore that part and respond in the most neutral way I can. There's also quite a bit of disagreement at times but it always snaps back to cheerleading for Trump at some point.

Fun fact: China has more wind energy capacity than the US does. China has more wind energy capacity than anyone does.

The MAGA movement is essentially immune to facts and relies entirely on "feels" especially those of its leader.

If Trump feels that China doesn't have wind turbines and that this is a reason for its greatness (in the second that he said this), then that's the truth.

From the story...

Why would you put anything in a place KNOWN as 'Flash Flood Ally'?
Because the land is flat and cheap and next to the river. The valley where I grew up was a good example. The cheap land next to the river was bought by building developers and housing built, at that time significant floods were predicted as a 1:100 yr event. Now with global warming they are more common. All the old villages are placed halfway up the valley sides out of the flood plain.

Settlements are always located near rivers. They are a source of fresh water and food, and when navigable a source of long-distance trade. Floodplains, too, are extremely fertile, which is why (for example) civilisations rose in the Nile river delta, despite its annual flooding.

Biden drowned the kids by causing weather from his basement.

This true for the lower part of the river where it is mature and navigable, but this is not true for the whole course of a river. Even then the settlements were either adapted by being on stilts or built on the high ground. Rome was on the seven hills not the Tyber. Edinburgh a good distance from the firth on the Mound. Mediaeval Glasgow was on Castle Hill not the Clyde.

The streams coming down the hill side provided fresh water and power to the mills. Our valley was in the middle course of the river, not really navigable until a canal was built, but good for trout. The land was too boggy for cereal but was used for grazing. Better drained land further from the river was used for planting. Agriculture was perhaps more sheep based than cereal with farms needing to use both the hillsides and hill top moors as well as the flood plain.
