Trump's Second Term

Sorry but at this point I think the USA is broken beyond repair. Trump has smashed the machinery of government and replacing it would be the work of a generation to replace it and that assumes everyone was willing to work towards that goal. With a great many Americans unwilling or unable to accept they were conned, a Republican party that's embraced the crazy and a hostile Supreme Court I doubt even if the Democrats win the White House and Congress in 2028 they can do much to replace what's being lost. Turns out its easy to drive an entire country off a cliff so long as you have a bunch of likeminded lunatics all willing to help.

As Eddie Hitler said "Every day, yakkety bloody yak, on and on and on! Day in, day out - slime in this ear, slime in that ear..."

TRUMP: And we are putting up wind. It does not work, aside from ruining our fields and valleys and killing all the birds. Being very weak and expensive, all made in China. I have never seen a wind farm in China. Why is that?

Because you've never been to China, you blithering idiot!

The squirrel toupee wearing chicken, not you.

I wish I could gloat, but a lot of the victims were innocent people including 25 missing from a girls' summer camp:

But Dan Patrick knows what to do:

Earlier Friday, Patrick addressed parents of children at Camp Mystic, where there were about 750 children at summer camp when the floods hit. The lieutenant governor, who was acting as governor while Abbott was on vacation, said they are praying for all those missing "to be found alive."

I needed to know how so many people could go missing from a flood, and so I opened the article, and:

Patrick said there hadn't been "a drop of rain until the tragedy struck" earlier in the day, and that the Guadalupe River had risen about 26 feet in 45 minutes. An alert went out around 4 and 5 a.m. local time, he said.

Almost eight metres in 45 minutes? JFC what a nightmare scenario.

Also, ◊◊◊◊ Drumpf.

From the story...
The summer camp sits on a strip known as "flash flood alley," Austin Dickson, the CEO of the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, told the Associated Press.

Why would you put anything in a place KNOWN as 'Flash Flood Ally'?

And, of course, as soon as the Democrats do anything to fix the mess, the Republicans will start yelling about budget deficits and the national debt.

Because it's a rare event that couldn't happen to ME !
And if it happens, it's the fault of the meteorologists (woke killjoys, the lot of them).

I've seen it in France, in Switzerland, …

And, of course, as soon as the Democrats do anything to fix the mess, the Republicans will start yelling about budget deficits and the national debt.
And Democrats wearing tan suits, Democrats eating ice cream, Democrats getting hair cuts...

Because Democrats doing things like that are waaay more unpatriotic than Republicans putting everyone, but especially those vulnerable like kids, in lethal harm's way.

Good morning, welcome to Fox News on Tuesday the forth of Donald 2029.

Today's morning hymn will be 'Praise be to Trump', be sure the be standing on your doorstep singing it loud and clear, or else you know what happens.

Later today we'll have election analysis, so look out for that, was your district one of the few that did not vote for Trump? Perhaps you'll be today's lucky informant.

Now here's Bob at the Witch-burning. How's that fire going, Bob...?
Don't forget to do your morning exercises. Smith 24956, Big Trump is looking at you!

The post deserves to be quoted in its entirety. Especially the 'be men' part. Jesus ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ Christ on a leopard.

btw, in perfect Newspeak, Rule 7 is... Logical fallacies.

That's right, boys and girls, criticizing the Regime constitutes a Logical Fallacy and will get you banned from their Reddit page.
And looking at rule 7 it is more "we will ban you for disagreeing with the party line" than any sort of a logical fallacy, because the rule says (boiled down) "if the party says 2+2=5 you'll be banned for saying 2+2=4"

Flash floods are common in any barren region. The rule for escaping them is very simple: GET THE HELL OUT OF THE LOW PLACES! That includes river bottoms, not just obvious features like dry creek beds, washes, arroyos, wadis, and steep alluvial fans. Not a hard lesson to learn, or to remember once you've ever seen a gully-washer come through.

Once in a lifetime events? Hardly; but last in a lifetime if you don't keep your wits dry.

You and your ridiculous red tape and planning laws. This is Texas.
Most of New Orleans (Louisiana) lies below sea level. Its highest points are about 20 feet above sea level.

In Texas, the Guadalupe River quickly rose 26 feet. It doesn't usually do that. The area received six to twelve inches of rain in three hours. That's unusual, even in Texas. Texas hill country topography dumps that water into the river pretty quickly, hence "Flash Flood Alley". If something similar had happened in New Orleans, the entire city would be under water.

It so happens that the New Orleans metropolitan area is now was under a flood advisory until 3:30pm [this past] Monday.

Yeah, I'm not sure about that ... yet. I try to avoid predictions, for a couple of reasons.

One is the whole "black swan" thing. Maybe Trump IS the black swan, yet I have this "waiting for the other shoe to drop" feeling.

Another thing I tell myself, there are ALWAYS unintended consequences. One example, my state went for Trump but also passed a constitutional amendment guaranteeing abortion rights. It actually goes beyond "Roe v. Wade." It could not have been just Democrats approving it.

And then there are optics. I'm sure the administration will try to shut down the press when guys in balaclavas start ripping babies out of their mothers' arms. When grandparents are seized and taken God knows where with a promise they'll never see their kids or grandkids again.

All of this is reversible (except maybe climate change). My worry is not that this can't be fixed, but that the majority of U.S. citizens will not think there is anything that needs fixing.
