Trump's Second Term

Why isn't stopping a war as easy as just instructing the two sides to stop? I mean, what else is there to say or do? That's two wars it's happened with now. He's losing his temper and no wonder. Next thing you know he'll be patting the mic and saying "Is this thing on?".

How the hell is a guy supposed to get some Nobel peace prizes if people just won't listen?

There's a reason why his businesses invariably crashed and burned. As a former business owner I once worked for -- a truly self-made millionaire (his father was a day laborer) -- put it, "He makes the same mistakes over and over. He never learns." This was when the failure of trump's Atlantic City casinos was making news. "There's got to be something wrong with him."
I suddenly recalled another trump story, from about thirty years ago. The manufacturing company I worked for was planning a sales show, with invited guests including other manufacturers and sales clients. The original site was to be the Grand Hyatt Hotel on E. 42nd Street at Grand Central. One of the planners was a co-worker of mine and she told me they were running into a problem. Because of the Hyatt's association with trump quite a number of the guests did not want to go. The woman doing the planning said, "We're going to stage it at the Javits Convention Center instead." She laughed. "Lucky me, now I have to start all over. But," she confided, "a lot of people want nothing to do with trump," and she said she didn't blame them. In reality, trump was already feuding with the Hyatt chain and about to be bought out, but we went to Javits.

Recall, this was back in the 1990s, long before any of the latest. And in his 'hometown,' New York City. But trump was always the subject of a lot of disdain, widely recognized even back then for what he was: garbage.

The truth is that most people only know the character of Donald Trump that was invented for The Apprentice. That it was a 'reality show' meant that where most people understand that Tom Cruise is not a superspy and Henry Cavill can't fly they did think Donald Trump was actually this incredibly shrewd business man.

I prefer presidents

It was very telling to hear him complain on the WH lawn the other day about his attempts to make a deal, saying "I tried being nice, I tried being nasty, nothing worked. It's like talking to a stupid person." This is the confession of a psychopath wondering why his attempts at manipulating others to bend to his will aren't having the same old magic. Negotiation for Trump, as we see in alternate attempts to shape events with Iran, is simply a series of assaults with the intent to force capitulation, peppered with time-outs for flattery and cajoling a mark. There is no place in his mind that his own desires and needs does not hold hostage.

I suspect 'most people' doesn't include Tom Cruise.

The last Pahlavi pissed off every ethnic and political group in the country with his paranoid megolomania, even the ones he needed to keep his arse on the throne.
There's a YouTube channel with a million followers pushing for the Pahlavi family's return to power.
Of course, Iran has a population of 90 million people. So I don't know how significant this is. I use to know a lot of Iranians/Persians. Almost none of them had a positive opinion of the Shah and even fewer had a positive opinion of the clerics.

CARTER: The Adolescent Trial Network for HIV intervention received a stop work order that shut down research at 14 sites where 7 studies were being conducted. Were you aware of that?

RFK JR: As far as I know, we haven't cut any clinica--

CARTER: I'm telling you by your own records you are, so apparently that means you are not aware
