I've read a few articles claiming the US army had been planning a celebration for 2 years with plans for outreach events and Trump hijacked it for a parade.
This seems to be the official Army events page for the 250th birthday and mention of Trump and the parade are very much not highlighted. Also note the banner at the top
"We have deliberately taken some of our webpages offline in order to comply with Executive Orders and OSD Policy. The intent is to preserve our history, and we are working to re-publish content as soon as possible."

I wonder if they have to take showers after grovelling for him like that. I'd feel terribly dirty.

This is what they did for the Bicentennial and it worked pretty well given it was in the immediate post-Vietnam era.

Something similar was done for the 200th anniversary of the Constitution in Philly, albeit this was done by the PA National Guard (specifically the First City Troop)
