Trump's Second Term

Can I ask you, and everyone in this thread, a favour? Please don't link to MSN.

It's a crappy site run by a crappy company with even crappier HTML. In fact, the entire site basically runs on JavaScript, not the web standard HTML That means non-graphical web clients like elinks and wget can't use it, and it probably doesn't work with screen readers either. It makes a mockery of good web design and practices: sort of the difference between a movie set and a real house.

The only stories I've ever seen on MSN are from other sources. Being MSN, they don't even provide a link back to the site where they stole the story from, only to the site's home page. The internet and the web should be for everyone, not just those using the most popular browsers or devices.

Sorry, but it's where I get my news.

If I can find it on fox, I'll be happy to link to that, but that's it.

ETA: I'm not trying to be a pain in the a***, and I do like your post (especially since it's mostly negatives), but you can certainly ignore my post if you want.

Given what Musk has been doing, Trump can probably, technically, just not pay judges who are not in lockstep with his takeover.

I find it fascinating to watch the dismantling of a democracy and turning it into a dictatorship in real time along the same pattern as Hitler’s seizure of power, and with the same speed. I am not saying that Trump is a Hitler (yet), but the similarities are astounding, right down to demand Anschluss with Canada.

I would visit the US now if I could.
I would say it's faster, but a lot more stupid (and the OG nazis weren't exactly packing in the brains department).

I don’t know. My Hitler biography got left in a train many years ago, but I think I remember that the process was effectively completed within a couple of months.

REPORTER: Some people say this is ethnic cleansing

TRUMP: We're moving them to a beautiful location where they have new homes, where they can live safely, where they will have doctors and medical and all of those things

REPORTER: There are many Palestinians who are going to want to go back to Gaza and feel like that it is their right to do that

TRUMP: We don't think that's gonna happen. We think people are gonna be very happy, thrilled
As I said the goal is Auschwitz-Birkenau.

I think you are correct.
It seems like everyone I know voted for what they saw as the "lesser of two evils." I'm not sure I know anyone who actually liked either candidate.

I have one friend who didn't like Trump or the things he said but liked much of what actually got done during his first term. (He's a border security guy, but not really a mass deportation guy.) I think he considered the crazy coming out of Trump's mouth to be hot air... the crazy stuff would never actually happen. On the other hand, the stuff that he had problems with from the liberal side, while less bat-◊◊◊◊ crazy, actually had a chance of getting done. He leans right, but in effect he voted for Trump with the expectation that he would be ineffective.
Your friend is both a Qvisling and an idiot, and would likely sell you to the Gestapo for a couple of brass tacks.

REPORTER: If you have received billions of dollars in contracts from the Pentagon and the president is directing you to look into the DoD, does that present a conflicts of interest?

MUSK: First of all, I'm not the filing the contract. It's people at SpaceX

REPORTER: Are you policing yourself for conflicts of interest? What are the checks and balances?

MUSK: We post our actions to the DOGE handle on X

If they dump all that irony on the market in one go they can crash the Chinese steel industry.

The political part of the process, but the rest of it took years.
I was thinking of the part where Hitler established himself securely for life, and all opposition gone. Of course there were still internal problems in the party, like the idea of the SA that they were in fact the ones who should be in charge, but that was dealt with later.

In the Trumpian universe this could be a showdown with Musk, or the MAGAs. MAGA has no independent leaders, so they might not need to be purged.

Nope, that's someone's photo that happens to coincide with the label, which is now "Gulf of America"
Not just for the USA.
They have changed it everywhere

Elon's continues attacking judges again today

I still think Donald is going to move against judges that obstruct him

Elon Musk
@ElonMusk

This is deeply wrong!

A judge just blocked dropping the overhead charged on NIH grants from the outrageous 60% to a far more reasonable 15%.

This judge is FORCING the CORRUPTION to CONTINUE.

WTF.

Elon Musk
@ElonMusk

Yes!

Impeach corrupt judges

With Elon dripping this in Donald's ears and eyes all day every day something is going to happen, Donald will make try to sack Judges and takeover the courts.

Elon Musk
@elonmusk

Bravo!
We must impeach judges who are grossly undermining the will of the people and destroying America. It is the only way.

That’s exactly what judges were doing in El Salvador in 2021…

So we impeached them all and then proceeded to fix the country. x.com/thebabylonbee/…

if you think the “independent media” scam is bad, the “independent judiciary” scam is even worse — corrupted media can still only smear and defame; corrupted courts can take your property, your liberty, and your life

At CNN Stephen Collinson wrote: "“I don’t think there’s been, I don’t know … a case (of) an organization (that) has been more transparent than the DOGE organization,” Musk insisted." This statement flies in the face of his claim that naming his programmers was illegal.

Collinson continued, "Trump’s promise that “we wouldn’t let him” take advantage of his position was devalued by his unwillingness to address his own mammoth conflicts and the White House announcement Tuesday that Musk would only file a confidential disclosure form, as an unpaid special government employee." Musk amplified a bogus insinuation that Samantha Power had wrongfully profited during her time at USAID, a claim which used her public financial disclosure forms in a deceptive manner. Maybe turnabout would be fair play, but it won't happen.
