Trump's Second Term

I'd like it stated what was the error. Believing it, posting it online or getting caught? I generally don't think people should lose their jobs for ◊◊◊◊◊◊ views unrelated to their position but i need some more consistency when stuff comes up.
If a known racist is put to the task of slicing government spending, you can’t see that his views are relevant to his execution of the job? What about those youngsters who have a short conversation with a government employee, and then decide if the employee should be fired? Don’t you think it could influence his decisions?

Elon says Judge Paul Engelmayer's injunction to prohibit access to treasury systems is 'super shady' and designed to protect scammers.

Elon Musk
@elonmusk

This ruling is absolutely insane!

How on Earth are we supposed to stop fraud and waste of taxpayer money without looking at how money is spent?

That’s literally impossible!

Something super shady is going to protect scammers.

Republicans against Trump

You may only be able to read the first couple of paragraphs.

If he's 19 and that took place in 2022, he would have been about 16. I'm not sure of the timeline here.
The ages and dates are as reported. There's nothing suspicious about this. My company routinely hires summer interns who are still in high school and may be as young as 16. This is especially common when the candidate has a reputation as a prodigy.

And I'm sure a lot of people will believe him because they don't know that even the people who are authorized to work with such systems still must obey laws. This includes "special government employees." They are not exempt from obedience to the law, and may properly be enjoined from carrying out their duties in violation of the law.

Thanks for this. On the strength of this comment and the favourable responses, I've reduced the score to 0 (neutral.)

I confess I'm unsure about the phrase "If you believe acting against the ICC was wrong." Did you mean, "If you believe including the complaint about South Africa bringing a case before the ICC was wrong then this should be -1"?

Trump has signed an Executive Order sanctioning members of the ICC, which I have scored as -1.
The sanctions on South Africa had two justifications,
1) the appropriation of land from white people to be given to black people which is of course a form of DEI. Although no land has been appropriated and the law is very restrictive on what land can be appropriated. I think this component is either -1 or 0.
2) The fact that it was South Africa that brought the case about Netanyahu to the ICC. This is a purely political and non-factual issue. If you scored sanctioning the ICC as -1 then you should equally score -1 for sanctioning South Africa for bringing the case.

Elon at the President's desk. The pundits think this may prove to be a big problem. For Elon.

That's presumably the hope. I don't think it will be though.

It's based on what happened with Steve Bannon eight years ago.

1739047548928.webp

Exactly eight years ago this week, Time magazine published a memorable cover story on Steve Bannon. The headline used for the piece inside the magazine asked, “Is Steve Bannon the Second Most Powerful Man in the World?” It’s easy to forget, but as Donald Trump’s first term got underway, Bannon was seen as the driving force in the White House...Around the same time, The New York Times reported that Trump “quietly expressed annoyance” at the attention Bannon was receiving...But it was the Time cover that, according to multiple reports, especially bothered Trump...With this in mind, by the summer of 2017, Bannon’s tenure in the West Wing was over. A BBC report on his departure noted, “The cover of Time magazine showed Bannon at the height of his powers, but it may also have set in motion his eventual downfall.” Yahoo News article link

Who knows, but we'll see. I sure hope so. Because if Musk does get the boot, it means America dodges a bullet.

"A US District Court judge has put a temporary block on Elon Musk and employees of his Department of Government Efficience (DOGE) accessing the US Treasury Department's payment and data systems.

The ruling was issued in response to a lawsuit from 19 states filed on Friday, alleging Mr Musk and his cost-cutting team could disrupt a number of vital government services and access sensitive data.

What's next?

The judge's order is only temporary — a further hearing before another judge is scheduled for next Friday, February 14"

Consulting contracts specifically are always something I'm leery about because consulting has long been a way to hide truly bogus payments. Being hired as a "consultant" is largely code for being given money without doing anything of value, or of a value commensurate with the expense.

But in general someone acting under public authority to exercise discretion in funding owes the public some transparency. Congress wrangles over the budget, but at least that's a public spectacle. Some guy who simply appoints himself as Exalted Edge Lord of the Exchequer and does whatever he wants according to his own unexplained whim is not a public servant.

Now factor in that His Lordship actually holds and fulfills government contracts, and you have a major conflict of interest.
I have a friend whose entire career is the result of consulting contracts. He is an architectural consultant. He reviews blueprints for government buildings. He identifies design flaws that are likely to result in cost overruns during construction. He then presents a list of recommendations for changes. Everything he does is about saving the government money. But there is no way to know ahead of time whether his consulting advice is worth his fee.

Another group of useful idiots who got pwned:

'We're not a cult': Arab Americans for Trump leader grilled over president's Gaza plan

:dl::dl::dl:

You don't have ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ dicksquat!!! You are nothing but a useful idiot who got used and tossed aside! You deserve to have your face eaten by the leopards! And you are too stubborn and stupid to own up to it!

Well, you know, we helped the president win the elections. Next year there will be elections for Congress and Republican's hold on Congress is very shaky right now," Bahbah offered. " So without our support, the Republicans will not be able to hold Congress. So we have the leverage over the political system.

Why would they continue to support the party that lied to their faces? Their plan after being duped is to set themselves up to be duped again.

Executive Order: Protecting Second Amendment Rights

The order is to review everything the Biden administration did with regards to "ongoing infringements of the Second Amendment rights of our citizens." One particularly concerning part:
First time someone takes a shot at Donny or Muskrat and even wings them, and that will all change.

That's definitely the kind of consultant work that I would want preserved.

It was posted by Andy_Ross earlier in this thread. Unfortunately Andy rarely includes links. Most of the time when I put various quotes into DuckDuckGo I can find the source, so I trusted the remark to be accurate.

It appears to originate with this tweet, which was then retweeted by a handful of other accounts.

there is no evidence that it is authentic. Indeed, this poster seems pretty sure that it is fictional.

Any Muslim who believes that the GOP thinks Muslim support is needed to help them hold Congress has duped themselves; their "leverage" is wholly in their minds. The only support the GOP cares about right now is the MAGA faithful; and, even with them, the support given in the form of votes isn't a part of any necessary reciprocal transaction beyond assuring them that they can say "Merry Christmas!" again, and that they don't have to worry about trans competition in sports, and other such vital, pressing issues.
