Trump's Second Term

The leaders of Canada, Panama (and China incidentally) and Greenland know this is performative nonsense going through a loudmouth lunatic. Their previous responses were measured and subdued - not responding to the childish name-calling. This time they probably won't even bother responding at all. To do so just encourages the Trumpy bully team.

The advice for dealing with narcissists is not to engage in debates. I imagine this is what Canada, Denmark and Panama will do. I think this is the same BS about Mexico paying for the wall. This also does not mean he won’t try to pull the US out of NATO and the UN.

Responding to the Dilbert guy, Elon Musk says that his MAGA critics which have now expandeda long way past Laura Loomer are "contemptible fools" who "must be removed from the Republican Party, root and stem."

Trump says
“If you graduate from a U.S. college—two-year, four-year, or doctoral—you should automatically get a green card to stay.
Too often, talented grads are forced to leave and start billion-dollar companies in India or China instead of here.
That success and those jobs should be in America."

A lot of Trump's voters will be feeling they were just used.

That sounds 'elitist' to me.

Homelessness increased by almost 20 percent in the last year. Do we expect Trump and the Republican party to do anything about that? I wonder....hmmm

Don't tempt them. They'll make it illegal to sleep rough. Like that's going to solve anything.
That would be the approach I expect from a Republican. They passed laws like that in Texas. It's against the law to sleep in a car in much of the state.

I lived in a tiny apartment once for two years. It was just a room and a toilet. I found out at some point some 6 Mexicans were living in another one of those units. But only 3 had to sleep at any one time.

I lived in a 3000 square foot home by myself for a decade. And to this day, I liked living in a 500 square foot studio apartment more.

I blame the housing problems on local governments as much as I do Federal and State governments. Zoning laws must be written that require low cost housing. Urban and suburban density needs to increase. There needs to be a lot more small and mid-size housing and a hell of a lot less Mcmansions.

One problem is that as soon as new homeowners get their lovely new home they want to pull up the ladder behind them. "Well, now that I have my house I don't want any more subdivisions built around here, that would increase traffic and lower my property value!" Too many people operate under the motto "I got mine, ◊◊◊◊ you".

Yep. This is the con of the average American's wealth tied up in their homes. They have little interest in increasing home supplies which in turn keeps home prices down. I sold my big suburban home for double what I paid for it in the time I owned it. That doesn't help the kids looking to buy their first home.

But high suburban density need not be unattractive and undesirable.

the Tory Party took a similar route in the UK accompanied by pictures of garbage company employees (take that any of three ways) loading homeless people's tents, along with all their remaining possessions in some cases, into the back of rubbish lorries.

Steve Bannon Warns Elon Musk's 'True Colors' Showing Amid H-1B Visa War

The tech-bro-versus-MAGA-fundamentalist war:
Alex Cole on X, Dec 27:
Did Elon just agree that MAGAs are...? HAHAHAHAHA!!!! This is just getting so much better!

Alex Cole on X, Dec 27, 2024, as seen on The Dusty Show on YouTube, Dec 28, 2024, at 16:46 to 17:23:
Rich MAGA: College education is woke!
MAGA: YAY!!! We hate college equation!
Rich MAGA: We have to hire educated foreigners because you MFs are too dumb!
MAGA: Wait What???

It should be added that the reason why the Rich MAGAs are fine with ruining the U.S. system of education and replacing their tech staff with imported foreigners probably is that the foreigners are cheaper and willing to accept worse working conditions than American-born-and-educated tech staff. The tech bros also aren't interested in paying taxes for the education of Americans.
