Unknown. Except for the GAO, forensic accounts have department-specific authority. GAO accountants are the ones who should be doing what Elon Musk is pretending to do.

Because the actual goal is to get rid of as many Federal Employees as possible, as quickly as possible, and replace them with right-wing sycophants and AI controlled by right-wing sycophants. This is so they can lock in Conservative control of the federal bureaucracy before the wrongful firing lawsuits can catch up, and the whole thing becomes a fait accompli. All that stuff about "waste, fraud, and abuse" is a smokescreen. Once you realize that, it all makes sense and is actually going disturbingly well for the Musk faction.

Apples and Oranges. The US has expenditure to fight an offensive war, on more than one front, overseas. Europe only needs to fight a local defensive war. post Ukraine it will take Russia time to rearm and reequip to a level that is a threat.

It does do a lot to sum it up, yeah. On a slightly different angle, it might be easiest to sum things up as - Right wing leaders sell superficial validation, while liberals sell responsibility. It's obvious which is actually better and more productive from the outside, but we all need validation, emotionally, and Right wing leaders have long worked to make people starved for validation so they'll swallow the crap quality goods they sell. As liberals have moved away (or been driven away) from the Republican party, the effects of that have continued to become more pronounced.

Honestly? Too soon to tell, for a few reasons. One of the notable ones is whether there will actually be enough pressure put on them to overcome the usual upholding the continuity of government. Democrats tend to try to uphold even the dumbass ◊◊◊◊ that Republicans pull that they don't like, absent compelling force to fix it. That's both a good thing and a frustrating thing at the same time, of course.

The Gulf renaming is annoying, but I suspect it's intended to be; there are bigger things to worry about, such as whether there will a chance of fair elections again in the foreseeable future.

I wouldn't bet on it. Biden reversed surprisingly few Trump decisions. The one I think he should have done (and Ok he did at the last moment) was the embargo on Cuba for the secret energy weapon attacks. Also labelling Cuba a terrorists state. Cuba is not a terrorist state in any functional system sanctions on cuba for this would have been withdrawn. I realise that avoiding alienating the ex-Cuban vote was thought more important than doing the right thing; but that turned out pointless. Biden should also have reinstated the nuclear weapon limitation treaty with Iran.

They're quoting Reuters, but it's not on their website so far.
