Trump's Second Term

It's fine, I'm sure the adults in the Republican party in Congress and the Senate have it all under control and do will start to care about democratic norms. And they will stop any president who does anything too bad like <checks notes> allowing gender neutral bathrooms whilst being a black President.

Au contraire. Headline from the Daily Beast:

"Now Is the Time to Admit It, America: Trump Is a Dangerous, Lunatic Moron"

trump has always been a moron but never this unhinged. Invading Venezuela? Naming himself acting president of Venezuela? Threatening to invade Greenland? trump saying he no longer "feels obliged to think only of peace" because 'Norway' didn't give him a Nobel Peace Prize? I'm sorry, trump was idiotic and malevolent in his first term, but he's taking crazy to a whole new level.

The wheels are coming off the wagon!
I think at least part of the reason he seems more insane today is he had adults to supervise and restrain him the first time.

Also, why is he so obsessed with tariffs this time around? It literally seems to be the only tool he can think to use whenever some other country disagrees with him. Except violence and kidnapping heads of state, I supposed.

trump was always big on economic sanctions. the worrying part is he's starting to throw around military might, something he didn't do as much in his first term. maybe he feels the clock ticking on his life and doesn't have the patience, maybe he's demented, i'm not sure.

anyway, you give too much credit to the "adults" in his first term. he was a lot more sane, but even at that most of them either folded or quit in the end. even after he half heartedly and ineffectively tried to kill half of them and overthrow the government they protected him for years.

He is actually more insane. As he's losing what little impulse control as he declines. Forget Reagan showing signs of dementia. This is far more obvious.

Trump: I don't care about the Nobel prize.

We can add it to the growing list of things he doesn't care about, and doesn't care so much that he hardly even mentions them in speeches all the time, and definitely doesn't feel driven to wreak maximum revenge on every single person he feels once slighted him as opportunities arise.

He's pretty much forgotten all about these things he certainly doesn't bear grudges over. Indeed he could show you an impressively long list of such things which scarcely cross his mind.

Minnesota is Trump Country! I won 78 out of 87 Counties. The Election was swung by Corrupt Counties around Minneapolis and St. Paul, represented by disgusting Ilhan Omar. Moronic Tim Walz has allowed Minnesota to become overrun by Somali fraudsters who steal from American Taxpayers, and take advantage of our generosity. Tim is completely incompetent, which is why he lost big time last year, and bowing out of Re-Election is the only good decision he has ever made. I have instructed Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent to FOLLOW THE MONEY, and put an END to this abuse once and for all, first in Minnesota, and then all around the Country!

Bessent: "Everyone take a deep breath. Do not escalate. Do not escalate. President Trump has a strategy here. Hear him out and then everything will be fine."

I'm just guessing here. Is his strategy to escalate?

Here, Bessent sounds rather like a man trapped in a room with a monster. "Okay. For Chrissakes nobody provoke it..."
