Trump's Second Term

The US Coast Guard has recently been attempting to stop and board the Bella 1, an oil tanker, under U.S. sanctions since last year for transporting Iranian oil, which federal authorities say is sold to finance terrorism. This time Bella ! was reportedly en route to pick up oil in Venezuela when the US Coast Guard tried to board the vessel.
The New York Times is reporting:
The oil tanker fleeing American forces in the Atlantic Ocean has been formally renamed and added to an official Russian database of vessels registered in that country, potentially complicating U.S. efforts to board the runaway ship. New York Times article link

Amazing. Yesterday at work one of the guys said he could see Venezuela appealing to China or Russia for help fending off an American invasion.

Is this how WWIII will start?

It's clear that Trump does not recognise that this kind of insult, trashing an opponent for their world-renowned real achievements, hurts him more than it hurts them. It just makes Trump look weak. Like a whiny, resentful little loser. You don't have to like Cloony to recognise he's one of the world's biggest and most successful movie stars, so when Trump obviously lies about that you get a peek into his fractious relationship with reality.
 
I'm having a discussion with some Finns on FB and I posted the link to Jack Smith interview and some 250 page pdf. The moderator insisted I reword election crimes to "alleged election crimes." Seems Trump will never go to court for Jan 6th, so I insisted I had a trial of the charges and I could not round up a jury, so I as judge decided Trump had the major role of rounding up his gang. Sure, he did not control the gang, but without his encouragement (and the expectation he would pardon them) there would not have been a riot. Smith's logic for the events going on in the White House also stands up well.

Moderator decided not to argue.

The 'eating the cats and dogs' thing is what convinced me that they'll really believe and support everything he tells them. I didn't expect a significant number of trumpkins coming to his defense and arguing that yes, Haitians are in fact eating cats and dogs in Springfield.
 
So almost a full year of Trump that can probably be summed up as 'and then it got worse'. If the USA manages to stagger along until the November mid-terms, and if those go off smoothly (a big if) then maybe some of the damage can be stopped and reversed but you can't turn back the clock in terms of the damage Trump's done to the political system. He's shown that an authoritarian populist with enough sycophants around him can basically ignore the constitution and the law to do pretty much what they please.
