Trump's Second Term

Trump Says $16 Billion Hudson River Tunnel Project Is ‘Terminated’
It was not immediately clear what the president meant and whether the project, known as Gateway, had already been stripped of federal funding.

If he wants to ◊◊◊◊ up New York infrastructure to troll the Dems he could just order one of his planes off boat-destroying duty to stick a missile into the middle of the Brooklyn Bridge. Slightly surprised he hasn't.

From ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ WHO?

I don't want to say his name, but a guy called Baron who calls regularly. Great guy, where is Baron... where's he sitting... oh right, he's not here. Well, he knows a lot about Palm Courts, maybe more than anyone. Not more than me, but he knows a lot. Best reviews. Better than anyone expected. You look at these radical marxists. Windmills look terrible.

Pentagon reporters who declined to sign a new set of policies that press advocates and news organizations denounced as incompatible with the tenets of journalism were set to return their press badges by 5pm on Wednesday, ending decades of history of robust in-house coverage at the world’s largest military headquarters.

🚨 BREAKING - PRESIDENT TRUMP: "They call him DARTH VADER, but he's actually a nice person. OMB Director Russel Vought." 🤣

"Russel Vought is TERMINATING tremendous numbers of Democrat projects! Not only jobs, but projects."

"Project in NY that's BILLIONS that Schumer worked 20 years to get. IT'S TERMINATED. Tell him it's terminated, Jennifer."

How can't you love this?

Prosecute Soros!

There’s considerable evidence that George Soros and his network are funding the “No Kings” rallies.

That’s exactly why I’ve introduced the Stop FUNDERs Act.

It lets law enforcement prosecute those funding acts of political violence.

This is going to be hilarious. Because the first people to be prosecuted under the law will be MAGA, sure as (expensive) eggs.

Am I going mad? He said there is RICO level criminal activity going on, that is, from wiki...
The Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act is a United States federal law that provides for extended criminal penalties and a civil cause of action for acts performed as part of an ongoing criminal organization.
Cruz says that they are not organized, though, but "deliberately blind" to what each of about 200 organizations are doing to support the rallies.

So it's organized crime but it's deliberately not organized?

Once congress releases funds, the executive department can just juggle any money anywhere?
The Defense Department identified “approximately $8 billion of unobligated research development testing and evaluation funds (RDTE) from the prior fiscal year that will be used to issue mid-month paychecks to service members in the event the funding lapse continues past Oct. 15,” a department official told The Hill on Saturday.

There are several ways that a congress-critter can see their political career negatively affected if they "go against" the party or the fuherer...

- As you mentioned, the president has a "bully pulpit". This is especially true for the republican party, which has transformed itself into a cult. Yes, Trump may only be one man, but if you are in a deep red district, you can see yourself primaried if you speak out. (Yes, Trump will eventually be gone, but if you get kicked out in the 2026 midterms because Trump had you primaried, you likely won't be getting back in in 2028, even if Trump is no longer around.)

- Access to federal campaign funds. Congress-critters do a lot of their own fundraising, but there is also money provided by the federal party. Play nice and you get extra money for election ads.

- Committee assignments... If you are a Trump cheerleader, you might get onto the foreign affairs or homeland security committee (high profile/influential positions.) If you speak out against dear leader, you will end up on the "Joint Committee on the Library" (And you will be responsible for bringing the donuts to the meeting.)
That's true for deep red districts. There are republicans in congress who hail from more moderate districts. More moderate right wingers, as well as libertarian Republicans, hate the MAGA movement almost as much as liberals, progressives, and democrats do. Im from Pennsylvania. From north central PA. (Lycoming County is a deeply red county, with Williamsport, my hometown, being a small little blue dot in the middle of the county). While there are definitely hard-core MAGAts around the county, for the most part, the Republicans around here are more libertarian than hardline conservative.

The county is split into two districts: The 9th and 10th districts of PA.

Williamsport, the largest city in Lycoming county, is in the 9th district, along with the southeastern part of the county. His district does include the deeply red northern tier counties of Bradford and Susquehanna, but he also represents more southern and more heavily populated counties of Schuylkill, Wyoming, and Lebanon counties. The rest of Lycoming county is in the 15th district. Both districts have a Republican in the House. My district is represented by Tim Meuser. And the 15th by Glenn Thompson.

Thompson has voted for the stupidly-named "Big Beautiful Bill." Now.....he was elected by a deeper red district than Meuser. Meuser doesn't have the same luxury as Thompson does, and yet, there he is sucking Trump's dick. The further east and south you go in Pennsylvania from Williamsport, the larger and less conservative the population becomes. You'll definitely still find pockets of hardcore MAGAts in some of those old rotting coal mining towns like Shamokin and Pottsville. But they become fewer and further between as you continue moving further south and east. And taking away foodtsamps and Medicaid from these poverty-stricken areas, wont help their case.

ETA:

Pennsylvania is far too important of a state for either party to NOT campaign for votes. By refusing to dispense campaign financing to the Republican Representative that's up for reelection, isn't encouraging that district's red voters to go to the polls to vote. If they aren't going to the polls to vote, they aren't garnering votes for the party's next presidential nominee once Trump is out of office. Assuming we don't actually fall into an autocracy.

Congresscritters have a lot more power than they think they do. Especially ones from certain districts inside of certain states. Theres really no reason why these guys have to hang onto the MAGA platform the way they've been doing. Especially not Meuser.
