Maybe a statement by his superior would be revealing, explaining how such a screwup got sent back to work dealing with the public. Also, do they now expect to issue him with heavier weapons so he can defend himself more effectively in future?

Miller, Trump&co. are really, really pissed that no ICE agents have yet been gunned down in an ambush. They are telling them to be super violent and provocative, shooting people for whatever reason, in the hope that citizens will resist, giving them a foothold to sneak in the narrative that they have to put US Cities under Marshal Law.
