Tourette's Being Spread by Facebook

Tics, twitches, seizures, grunts and exclamations, choking sensations, crying, shaking... I think symptoms like this have been observed before.

I saw "tied to gardasil vaccine" and shut the window down.

:laughing doggie:

You forgot the question mark after the word vaccine. It's the ol' "Just asking questions" tactic used so much by Faux News and the 9/11 troofers.

Also, in one of her responses to a comment, she admits that three of the girls never got gardasil shots and that it might be tied to something else. It would be nice if she would remove the video.

Maybe one of them, but isn't Tourette's pretty rare?

Not so rare as you might think:

Tourette syndrome is found in all populations and all ethnic groups, but is three to four times more common in males than females. The exact frequency of Tourette syndrome is unknown, but estimates range from 0.05 percent to 2 percent. Estimates vary widely in part because many people with Tourette syndrome have very mild symptoms and may not seek medical attention. It is estimated that there are about 1,000 new cases of Tourette syndrome diagnosed in the United States every year.

I know at least two people now who have it, I had an uncle with it, and my best friend growing up's father probably had it as well. I see it all the time at the library, probably on a daily or near daily basis.

This has already been noted by some sources. Indeed, even Drew Pinsky noted it in one of his "reports."

I had a friend who had it, but I didn't realize it until we'd been hanging out for a few months. The way it manifested itself was with head-twitching and short barking sounds. It never lasted very long, and only happened once in awhile. I think that he could control it most of the time, but he would lose control a bit after drinking.

The way I found out was a mutual friend brought it up in conversation. I thought he was kidding, so I made a joke about it. Later, I figured out it was true, and I felt like a total jerk! This is also how I found out that there are mild forms, unlike the classic "Tourette's Guy" people think of, who is randomly shouting profanities.

So, yeah, you could easily know someone who has it, and not even know.

Those who are reportedly claiming that a 1970s chemical spill may have caused the condition, such as Erin Brokovich, will have a hard time explaining why it is only affecting teenage girls and no one else.
