JICYAW, the reason mercury is used as a perservative is financial. Individual units are more expensive. Mercury allows large batches to be packaged and shipped. There is no medical reason for mercury to be injected into people. Ever.

And while the amount in one vaccine is small, when you add up the 23 required vaccines, there is no doubt that much mercury injected into small children and infants causes problems. Extreme ones for the weakest.

While some might imagine conspiracy, the real reason for injecting mercury into little kids has always been the oldest of conspiracies.

Making more money.

And don't start that crap about how we can't live without mercury in our vaccines and in our teeth. It didn't work for lead, it won't work for mercury.

How ironic that it's an "emergency" shortage of a vaccine that works "similar to placebo" according to the most recent research, and the suspension is coming from The Schwarzenegger administration.

I assume you can prove that all 23 required vaccinations contain thimersol?(The flu vaccine is the only one cited by the article as containing thimersol, you know.)
I also assume you have evidence that the dosage is anywhere near the lower limit allowed?

Okay, I read that paper. At absolute best it is saying that the methodology used to evaluate the efficacy of flu vaccine has flaws. Careful reading of it presents evidence that, if they are right could mean a couple things.

For example, if they are correct that influenza-like illnesses are misdiagnosed as influenza, this means two things:

1) Influenza is not as widespread as believed.

and

2) The vaccine is more effective than stated. Since the vaccine would have no effect on Influenza-like illnesses, innoculated persons would still come down with the illnesses and it would show up in the data as the vaccine having failed, when in fact it did not.

Just remember... if folks really wanted to make money, they would discourage the vaccines for pertussis, diphtheria, HiB, tetanus, and influenza just so they can sell more antibiotics, hospital respiratory equipment, hospital beds and "little baby coffins".

The studies referenced in that review mostly demonstrated a benefit from influenza vaccine. The results are heterogeneous. The author raises the point that the methodology of many of the studies allows for the possibility of bias. However, that does not allow one to ignore all evidence except that which supports one's own opinion.

I just wanted to point out to others reading this thread that your reference does not support the statement that the influenza vaccine works "similar to placebo". I do not get the impression that this will influence your own perspective.
