The Pope strikes again...

...I refuse to have communion. Even by the precepts of the catholicism I couldn't, in fact, since I confessed my sins... sixteen years ago? for the last time.
I'll see your 16, and double it :)

And when I tell that, I'm frowned upon for the second time. They think that religion makes you better than others. I don't.
Confession is for the absolution of, not sin, but guilt

If your family is anything like mine, they're envious that you can live in peace with and by your own conscience

For a price, wich includes submission to the religion's leaders, following a code which quite often is filled with prejudices and anger against the others, opressive pointless rules, draining resources to keep the religion's hiearchy and infrastructure...

If you compare that with the pain of knowing that you have a cancer that will not be cured, it may look like a very small price.

Are people still listening to this little man in the funny outfit? Unbelievable! If anyone else showed up in public wearing what this guy wears, they would be mocked, or at least looked at funny, but since he is the head of the Catholic religion, he is admired...What a laugh.

What a laugh that hundreds of millions of Americans, Italians, Japanese, Chinese think that their government is interested in their well-being instead of in power games..

Sheeps need a pastor.. (pun not intended)

The price the society pays for this lie is too high in my opinion, Matteo. It includes oppression of the population. It includes sexual repression and all the problems which come from this. It includes prejudices against those who follow diferent beliefs (or no belief at all) and all the conflicts which come from this. It includes maintaining an elite who claims to have the ultimate answer and the ultimate word on all issues based on some thousands of years-old colection of texts. It includes all the problems that the notion of "sin" and "guilty" can cause when inserted in a child's mind. It includes all the obstacles presented to the advance of science by an ignorant clergy. It includes all the obstacles presented to the advance of health programs by an ignorant clergy.

Doctors can also tell this lie and the society will pay a smaller price.

Give me a secular humanist "shepperd".

Did anyone else think, for just a second, that this thread would be something awesome to do with the Pope robbing a bank or something?:p

As it stands, he's a lunatic, but...he's Pope. It kinda comes in the job description.
