Does anyone else listen to the Infidel Guy podcast? I like some segments--specifically the Bible Geek--but I find Reginald Finley to be a bit annoying. I hate to be too critical of someone, but he gets really good guests, and his guests don't seem to have anything bad to say about him, so I am sure he is really good to them, but he is so dismissive of people he doesn't agree with! He comes off as rude sometimes, and he often seems unprepared (sort of a Larry King I-don't-read-the-book-the-guest-wrote-before-I-interview-him). I think it has potential, but I have a hard time listening to him miss the point or just dismiss it because he thinks it's wrong.
On the flip side, two of my favorites are Dr. Novella from Skeptic's Guide and Brian Dunning from Skeptoid. These guys really use a critical eye and approach things with an open mind, but only open enough to let in factually supported data. Love it!
I also listen to Skepticality, which is fun and entertaining, but not as good from a critical thinking point of view. I think Swoopy has really done an excellent job stepping up in the interviews, and I have come to like her style more than old Derrick's. Finally, I really like Point of Inquiry, although the interview style (pretend to be opposed so as to represent the opposing viewpoint, while eventually coming around to agree with the guest) doesn't always work for me. I can see they put a lot of time in, and I appreciate that.
In all, I am so happy for the existence of podcasts! It is nice to have something to listen to in the car that isn't sports radio, bad FM stations, or ultra-right-wing talk shows.
