I'm not bothering to provide a reference for this (do your own Googling; its my bedtime
The "voice of the Lord" is just the Earth passing gas.
You miss out the entertaining part. Abraham asks god if he will destroy the city if 50 righteous men could be found. Then if he could only find 45 – and so on down to 10. Eventually god says in effect “Sod it, they're getting it anyway”.
Question: how did Abraham trick god into this game?
He was! Oh, he was! One wonders who wised him up in inter-testamental times. Genesis 18.The OT god was a lot more human and fallible than the NT god.
He WILL know - but only if he goes and has a look.20 And the Lord said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; 21 I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know ...
Abe gives YHWH a much needed lesson in elementary morality!24 Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein? 25 That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?
So YHWH has a "way" to go. Abe is already in his own "place".26 And the Lord said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes ... 32 And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake. 33 And the Lord went his way, as soon as he had left communing with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place.
I think homosexuality isn't all the victim of heterosexual misunderstanding and could do with looking at itself and the way it also presents itself.
What would you like me to explain then?
It is not the platform used so much as the attitude using the platform.
Also, why "homosexuality"? Am I referring to it incorrectly?
I was thinking about the question posed to me in this thread, and I was wondering if it's possible, even at my age, to be unsure of one's sexual orientation.
I've always considered myself straight, and if I had to give an immediate answer, I'd say I'm more attracted to the opposite sex. However, all my life I've never had an interest in dating or intimate relationships. My life is pretty messed up, and I have no right to drag another person into it. I don't know if I'm all that capable of feeling sexual attraction either, as I see other human beings as cold bodies. The thought of physical contact with them repulses me.
Are there people who are non-sexual and don't fall anywhere on the spectrum?
Hope Remains said:If you are a Christian, and want to know what scripture really says about homosexuality, this site is for you.
...
It is our intent in the following pages to demonstrate that scripture in the original languages never condemned homosexuality, and same-sex marriage, often thought to be a "new" concept, existed and was accepted back then.
The way I read your post: A gay boy was sexually aggressive towards you and you didn't like that, so homosexuality needs to change the way it presents itself.
Some people say the exact same thing about heterosexuality.
You and I as heterosexuals seem to have agreed that we can choose our own behavior and maybe encourage others to behave better, but we can't personally control the way "heterosexuality" (all heterosexuals collectively) is perceived as presenting itself.
I'd say the same is true for any given gay person. What are you recommending that homosexuals do to change the way that homosexuality presents itself? Do you think they have the power to accomplish something for homosexuality more easily than we can for heterosexuality?
A sexual preference isn't sentient, so it just struck me as an odd phrasing. Homosexuals, though, could look at themselves and how they present themselves.
All right, I've been holding out on my response until I'd racked up enough posts to post links! This is what I finally made an account for. /long-time lurker

A while back, as I was browsing the comments of a webcomic, I stumbled across this site (forgive the amateur website design, they clearly meant well): http://hoperemains.webs.com/
Basically, they delve into most (all?) of the verses that could be interpreted as condemning homosexuality as a sin and systematically pick apart the language of the verse in question, detailing historical context along with providing translation notes as they go on. As a bonus, they describe how totally gay Jonathan and David were for each other.
When I first read it, I was ecstatic. Thinking about it now though, it seems strange that this interpretation is not more widely discussed. I checked out the "About Us" page, as well as "Resources", but I wouldn't know how credible the credentials and sources mentioned are.
What do you all think?
Saturdays, if you please. In the bible it says to stone to death the following.....People that work on Sundays
Christians that do should surely start stoning their troublesome teenagers
Homosexuality creates escharotica.
