The All Purpose Jill Stein Thread

No, what she parroted was one of the dumbest conspiracy theorist, anti-science tropes. Jill Stein undoubtedly has the capability of understanding basic science, but her ideology makes it impossible for her.

I'm willing to extend the benefit of the doubt.

I realize that spray painting blades of a bulldozer won't cause any permanent damage. The spray paint will probably come off after the bulldozer is operated for several minutes.

Anyway, middle aged professionals probably shouldn't be spray painting other peoples' stuff, especially if they are running for a political position.

Just my two cents.

Stein goes after the Truther vote with a call for a new 9-11 investigation:

The families and friends of those who were murdered on 9/11 deserve justice. They also deserve to know the truth.

Led by the families of those who died on 9/11, the American people wanted—and deserved—a comprehensive and independent inquiry into the attacks. The Bush administration initially said an inquiry was unnecessary, claiming that the perpetrators had been identified and their methods and motives were clear.

It is well known that the 9/11 Commission produced a report containing so many omissions and distortions that Harper's Magazine described it as "whitewash as public service"—a document that "defrauds the nation." The co-chairs of the 9/11 Commission wrote a book just two years after the final commission report, saying, "We were set up to fail." The 9/11 Commission was not given enough money, time, or access to relevant classified information.

The Stein/Baraka campaign believes a new inquiry is necessary.

Under our administration a new inquiry would have access to the considerable body of responsible independent research that has emerged over the last 15 years. We would create an independent 9/11 Commission, not one dominated by members with an interest in protecting the reputation and careers of foreign affairs and intelligence communities.

Dr. Stein was interviewed by Glenn Thrush the other day. Transcript here.

She answered the big pharma / vaccine questions by deflecting into a bunch of other stuff, like mercury in fish. She does say unequivocally that vaccines do not cause autism, but she muddies it all up with general anti-something-ism.

STEIN: There is no evidence, that I am aware of, that points to a link between vaccines and developmental disability. On the other hand, there are plenty of red flags that link developmental disabilities to things like lead and mercury and pesticides and air pollution and certain kinds of unhealthy foods, and that's what's begging for a comprehensive and definitive study. We should have a long-term prospectus study that looks at all, you know, exposures, medications, life habits, etc., pollution, and traces people over a period of many years, starting with when--starting with their parents, from when they are healthy. This is how we learned what causes heart disease.

He didn't ask her about WiFi. :tinfoil

In addition to climate change and creating an economy that works for the 99%, one of the most important is putting a moratorium on GMO foods and pesticides. Why? Because evidence is now showing that once these foods reach our digestive tract, they can affect our very DNA.

Imagine - eating a tomato that has been genetically modified with a built-in pesticide to kill the insects that prey upon it. It makes me shudder.

And built-in pesticides are just one of the repulsive aspects of GMO “franken-foods” that corporate giant Monsanto has created.

A Jill Stein administration will lead the fight to get the issue of GMO foods under control, as well as support organic and regenerative farming, permaculture, and sustainable forestry.

No other candidate has taken such a principled stance to clean up and protect our food supply.

Stein goes after the Truther vote with a call for a new 9-11 investigation:

You got ninja's on that by Stacko.

Any respect I had for Jill Stein has just vanished. I never agreed with most of her politics, but I had some respect for her as being well intentioned. That went down the tube with her embrace of The Truther Movement.

Hillary threw this at Bernie during one of their debates, too. She accused him of offering "free stuff". The Young Turks did a great analysis of this. It's a Republican talking point. In previous elections, Republicans would be slamming Democrats for offering "free stuff"; in this election, that debate took place within the Democrat Party.

your defense of free ponies for everyone policies is that criticizing that sort of thing is wrong because that's a criticism the republicans would make of democrats and shouldn't happen within the democratic party?

really?
