Re: "Evolution is overemphsized." Debbie Dominguez, Monday Letters.
Evolution is to biology what atomic theory is to chemistry or the Constitution is to American government. Evolution connects genetics to taxonomy and taxonomy to the fossil record. Otherwise, biology would be a mess of random ideas.
I studied evolution in my biology class. Nowthat I read about evolution for pleasure and know more about it, I realize that the experts are right when they say that it's not emphasized enough.

Trenton is one of those backwater redneck towns that I'm sure a lot of the more urbane participants in this forum are familiar with, but here is young Michela standing tall and strong for science. It's a good sign that, currently, the agenda of the Creationists isn't working.

I am compromised for bandwidth for the next 48-56 hours... if any of you can dig around and see if she has an on-line contact point, please let me know so I can give her a personal kudos.

This post was a sticky because it was something that we wanted to keep up with here. It's something that has not gained the kind of interest that would further warrant a sticky.

Please take your attitude elsewhere.

If he is even halfway correct, Texas is going down the crapper.

I am heading south for a visit about a week after election day, and I fully expect to see mountains of stupid among the smoking ruins.

Oh, my gosh. The announcer says that allowing Texas to teach that evolution is "only" a theory gives some concern that religion will enter the classroom. One viewer elucidates (and I paraphrase):

Y'all need to quit teachin' evolution and get back to teachin' God.

Yes, exactly the point.

I love "Tell it to Tim"! The "Viewer's Voice" segment in the evenings is usually hilarious, too.
