From the Daily Fail:
Sick Islamic terrorists tried to bring down a US cargo plane using two exploding DOGS, it was revealed today.
The Kamikaze canines - whose stomach had been stuffed with bombs and detonators - were discovered at Baghdad airport two years ago, French daily Le Figaro said.
Poor doggies:
The dogs were discovered in a freight area at Baghdad airport, but because they were dead, they were never loaded aboard the plane.
However, if this story is true, why wasn't it reported at the time?

If this is the best these guys can do, we may have overestimated them...

Damn animal abusers. And are these guys ever NOT evil? Christ, everything they do is downright horrific. What's next, rapid fire cannons that shoot human fetuses into crowded nursing homes?

Dogs are widely considered unclean (Haram) in Islam. The prophet was a cat man- which, as I have said before, tells me all I need to know.

You may want to watch Four Lions. Director Chris Morris shot it after having studied terrorists in-depth for three years and being struck with how breathtakingly stupid many of them were. An example he loves to use in interviews is a bunch of would-be terrorists in Yemen who planned to take down a US warship, USS Cole-style, by ramming it with a boat full of explosives. They assembled the boat in the middle of the night and piled explosives on board, then jumped aboard. The extra weight of their bodies caused the boat to sink.

Here is the Four Lions scene I was instantly reminded of:

Chris Morris, of course, was also behind above 'The Day Today' parody of implausible-seeming fear-inducing news stories about the terrorist threat (well before studying any actual terrorism and well before islamic terrorism as we know it).

I had to deal with some canine bombs. But then we finished housetraining our puppy.

Actually, that needs clarifying. What's unclean is touching a dog unnecessarily and having it live in your house. In other words, keeping dogs as pets; Muslims have always kept working dogs and have no problem with them. Given hygiene conditions in the 8thC Middle East, it was probably a sensible prohibition.
And not exclusive to Muslims either; my Irish farming grandparents always kept their dogs out of the house and never treated them as pets. In their community, it wasn't seen as at all odd or cruel to have the dogs housed in the barn and taken out only for work and exercising. (My grandparents didn't have any pet cats either; what they did have were feral cats that lived in the outbuildings and got fed during the winter. The cats were too useful as rodent control to be got rid of.)

Apparently terrorists/insurgents/the resistance (delete as applicable) have been using dog carcasses to conceal IEDs on roadsides for a number of years; I suppose these attackers took the lead from there. I hope they collar the people responsible; it's about time they were brought to heel.

Correction accepted.
I've found attitude varies with location and local custom. Wahabbi Saudis treat dogs badly (obviously I'm generalising. There may be exceptions. In particular, I never got close to actual Bedouin families, who generally kept working dogs). Sunnis seemed indifferent. Algerian berbers played with dogs. Indonesians eat them on occasion. I know one (English) Pakistani family who have an Alsation that's as much pet as guard dog. In short, Muslims probably vary as much in their personal attitude to dogs as anyone else, but the religion itself does impose an attitude which discourages the general trend in the west to treat dogs as semi-family members.
(I'm biased. I prefer most dogs to many people, of any faith, or none. But that's just a personal quirk, too).
