Terrorism arrests in Canada

Well, one wants to be fair. Galati is an attorney. It's pretty much his job to do stuff like that, so his marginally-less-unreasonable requests look positively reasonable when he makes them.

If the Canadian equivalent of CAIR (if these chaps turn out to be Muslim, of course) starts makin those same demands I'm all for joining in the mocking.

I've never been so p*ssed off with the Canadian media. The CBC is hilarious. In every newscast I heard there was reference to individuals with "varying backgrounds" but not once was the word Muslim or Islam used. Chicken sh*ts.

You would think a reporter could find a Canadian Muslim that would condemn the plot on air, but nooooo! All we get are snippets from people who say "How could Canada breed this type of Hatred?", "It's anti-Muslim propaganda!, and "It's bad because it could cause a backlash against the local Muslim Communities".

I guess cultural and ethnic roots which are so important in guiding our social policies, have absolutely no influence in this case??

Yeah, I'll bet the recruited "Canadian citizens" were all well rounded stable individuals with a GREAT sound reason for killing fellow Canadian citizens with BOMBS.

He said relatives of the accused are considering filing lawsuits.

Any chance they'll get off for something?? Knowing our system as limitedly as I do, I still wouldn't be surprised. So they will actually have to bomb somethig before the charges stick.

3 ton(nes) of ammonium nitrate? What volume is that? Unless they were working in the basement, maybe they were discovered when the floor collapsed?

A PDF worth clicking. While the Candian Goverernment doesn't admit that it's an islamic problem, their intell agency certainly does. I don't know how this got released but there it is.

There are stamps on it reading 'Processed by CSIS under the provisions of the Privacy Act or Access of Information Act.' As well, you may notice the large gaps the document has between paragraphs.

That is fairly recent and a high security rating, though.

It was inevitable I guess.CBC News: Details emerging after 17 terror arrests in Toronto

The RCMP found 3 tons of Ammonium Nitrate! Wasn't the Oklahoma Bombing the result of 1 ton of the same?
As I post this, no names or affiliations have been released. It will be an interesting week up here in boring old Ontario.
According to this article McVeigh made two purchases totaling 4000lbs of AN for the Oklahoma bombing. The three tonnes = 6614lb. Which may be an early approximation of how much they found. So these guys had their mitts on roughly 150% of what was used in Oklahoma.

The TV article last night, when talking about targets, showed the CN tower, of course.

How dare Canadians "oppress" the accused terrorists with leg irons and armed officers...and to top that oppression off the fascist Canadians didn't automatically allow the accused access to their beloved Qur'ans.

Oh, the endless crimes of the Canadians!
Why do you hate Canada?

I've just listened to an interview with Toronto Mayor David Miller and police chief Bill Blair. It is obvious that they don't want to stir up some sort of anti- Muslim backlash.

Gotta love it ... they were about to blow the ◊◊◊◊ out of something significant, but let's not get them upset.

:D

Funny how he didn't demand they be given iPods with "O! Canada" on them.

On Tuesday, instead of setting bail for the defendants, as had been expected, the court held a scheduling hearing to determine a date for considering bail, said Donald Mcleod, attorney for Jahmaal James, 23.
Bail? They wouldn't even think about that, would they?

Mcleod said he and other lawyers also asked the court to allow family contact with the defendants and for the defendants to gather as a group for prayer.
Gather together as a group? Uh Mr. Mcleod, may I kindly ask if you are freaking high?!

Well, we still have a process, you know. The bail hearing was postponed until the 12th, as the defence claimed they didn't have the evidence against the defendents.

Oh, I understand there is a process, we do that here too. It was the "On Tuesday, instead of setting bail for the defendants, as had been expected" part that I was commenting on. It was expected that a bail would be set? We have bail hearings for murder defendants here, but actual bail is certainly not expected, and usually it is denied.

Hey, you 'muricans already have "Dog the Bounty Hunter", we're just trying to create the conditions for the emergence of our own superstar bail bondsman- we'll call her "Beaver...she always gets her man."
