Tea Party solution to Sandy Hook (it involves George Zimmerman)

Such a solid point.

Because, as you are displaying, it's an interesting subject of conversation.

Not to me, it's just another long list of something that affects who?
It's a presentation of crazy, which couldn't be fixed here anyway.

Even if what is described is the absolute best way to handle these situations, I still don't see how we get from where we are now to what is being outlined.

Perhaps I am too cynical for my own good, but does anyone think that the top 100 news agencies would voluntarily follow all or most of these guidelines? Of course the other extreme is to make federal laws, but words cannot express how much I (and many others) detest the idea of a government deciding how non-government news events are covered.

ETA:
I suppose one could implement a few of the guidelines by making sure police do not release death counts or killers' names for a day or two, but in the end, that may prove as infeasible as the other approaches.

In any one year in the USA 25% of people will have a diagnosis mental illness. Lot of people to lock up.

A lot of people to treat. Mental illness and its treatment needs to be de-stigmatized. Perhaps the media could assist with that as long as they've got so much time to fill with endless recaps of events.

Actually, I just saw a wall of text, caught the name Django Unchained, read that part, and immediately realized that these writer was an idiot. It's amusing that they decry Django as a murderer, but then imagine that some supposed George Zimmerman type should have protected Sandy Hook from a person with murder on their minds. Perhaps they never saw the movie, which made it extremely clear that the white people who were killed were themselves torturers, or complicit in such acts.

Love number three, though. Yes, let's discuss this, honestly. However, since the writer doesn't understand Django Unchained, I doubt he could understand, say, the implications of the filibustering of anti-lynching bills, or even Michael Bloomberg's advocacy of stop-and-frisk.

One cannot help but admire the chutzpah for a right-winger accusing the liberals, of all people, of this:

Popular culture has made murder, rape, mayhem, hatred, and violence “cool”. Rebellion has become the noblest of acts.

Who was it that was advocating "Second Amendment solutions" again? Who is the biggest supporter of "Stand Your Ground" laws? Who has shown their bottomless, rabid hatred of Barack Obama from Day One? Whose politicians keep showing that they think rape isn´t anything to get upset about?

I also like how the author perpetuates the conservative meme that liberals don't believe in trying to correct the behavior of children. As if liberals just let their kids run wild with nothing even resembling rules.

You ARE aware of the Kennedys?

Aware of them, yes. Aware of how they raise their kids...no.

I can only judge liberals I actually know on how they raise their kids. I see no evidence of a lack of rules or discipline in the ones I know.

The exception which proves the rule.

I suppose if one really wanted to have a fair contest we might compare the respective children of the two most recent previous occupants of the Oval Office.

Then there's that whole pesky First Amendment issue, at least in the U.S.

It's not illegal to publish the names of people who accuse other people of rape, yet the media don't do it, so it's not out of the realm of possibility for the media to cover mass shootings without turning the shooters into celebrities (see Virginia Tech, if not Sandy Hook, for an example).

The stuff from the guy quoted in the OP is so over-the-top that I cannot tell if it is sincere or Poe.
