Tea Party solution to Sandy Hook (it involves George Zimmerman)

I just now found this. It is a bit old but incredibly fascinating especially the last bit given current context.

On KMOX radio here in St. Louis Mo. they were running analysis by CBS people, and Bob Schiffer made the statement (I paraphrase) “I’ve seen a lot of these sorts of tragedies over the years, but I now have a sense that we are no longer going to put up with it.” Now, whatever could that mean?

In his liberal world you can’t stop this sort of thing except through law, and that of course means gun control.

snip

I’m tired of the therapeutic culture that spawns this sort of thing; cultural relativism makes it impossible to condemn the worst villains. In the old days everyone would be mad as hell - now we are sad and weepy. The change in the American character is astonishing. And still nobody will stand up and lay blame where it belongs - in a culture that has kicked God out of our collective sight, that eternally blames cultural institutions and our most cherished principles for acts of criminality rather than moral character flaws, that refuses to recognize Evil.

snip

You see it in the schools where children may no longer be corrected. There was a time when teachers actually spanked children; now a teacher is in peril if he verbally chastises a bad kid. God, of course, has long been gone from the schools. We tell children they are animals, and that it’s o.k. to do whatever feels right because it’s “natural”.

snip

Popular culture has made murder, rape, mayhem, hatred, and violence “cool”. Rebellion has become the noblest of acts. All this with the blessings of people like William Ayers, who has been very influential in modern education. We are creating monsters in our schools.

So there you go. It is the liberals fault.

Then he goes on to make ten suggestions for preventing these tragedies in the future. I will paraphrase them here for the sake of brevity.

1) Don't send your kids to schools, teach them at home so they only hear your message on how to think. Also they're safer if they never see the outside world.

2) Abolish teacher unions. Because....evil groupthink. Also...see below.

3) Teach kids to wonder if black culture is responsible for black violence. Call this a "frank discussion of race and culture." Then ask if white culture does the same. Never mind trying to figure out what these concepts even are.

4) Don't cover school massacres in the news. If no one knows they happen they won't do them!

5) Correct kids when they do things wrong. Was this ever stopped? I'm pretty sure kids still get in trouble when they break rules. At least everywhere I look they do.

6) People feel powerless if there is too much government. Minimize the size of government. Less government obviously means less violence. I'm sure Somalia is a Garden Of Eden paradise.

7) Restrict sex in movies. Kids are violent because they are overly stimulated with lust.

8) Increase the war on drugs. Travyon Martin was likely high (in their minds) and that is somehow relevant to Sandy Hook. We all know the real reason we haven't won this war is because we haven't tried hard enough.

9) See below

10) Go back to church because if people knew about the Ten Commandments these things wouldn't happen.

It is 9) that is the kicker. So I will quote it in full.

Support the creation of local organizations to act as “neighborhood watch” for schools. Had George Zimmerman been at the front door instead of some mechanical card reader those children would still be alive. Perhaps it’s time we start asking for volunteers to protect our children. It will require security checks, but isn’t that worth it? This dovetails with the union problem; the unions will fight this measure tooth-and-nail.

Yeah, I wonder why unions would fight having untrained neighborhood Rambos inside their school armed with guns? Ones known to suspect children of crimes based entirely on their appearance.

How evil are unions to object to that?

Then we get a nice conclusion.

This sort of thing is not lost on these “troubled” youths and evildoers. They see a world that refuses to condemn violence, that approves of vengence and hatred, that shrugs off any and every sort of vile action. If the President won’t condemn evil why worry?

So....Obama doesn't condemn violence....somehow. And society is too tolerant of violence...somehow...which clearly means we need more violence...somehow...and obviously more untrained armed nutbags tasked with protecting children they likely hold in contempt for being "different."

Which will totally work...somehow.

I suspect Zimmy would cower if actually confronted with gunshots. He is nothing more than an overweight bully with a firearm fetish. If he really was a bad ass he would have joined the Army like his father.

Yup.

A coward protecting school students under attack by a mentally disturbed gun nut is certain to end well.......

That's the problem with this forum. Not enough Zimmerman!

Hey, I didn't create a ten point plan to stop school massacres that included him as a central piece. I just found it.

4) Don't cover school massacres in the news. If no one knows they happen they won't do them!
To be fair, isn't there evidence that the news hype around mass shootings encourages more shootings?

Actually that does seem to have been a huge factor in the Sandy Hook disaster in particular.

But how do you combat that? People want to watch the news when things like this happen. And the news channels are there to provide people with vital information they want.

Can you imagine the uproar if people found out such a massacre had happened and all the news channels had not even mentioned it?

You'd live a happier life if you didn't spend so much time searching the net for people to upset you. ;)

Well, in this case I have to give credit to someone else that found it. But your point does stand.

Well, what is more is that news agencies need to fill a 24 hour news cycle. There is no reason to push it to the national level aside from viewership.

Why even go look?
Get out of the house, away from the 'Net...

Why are so many people here looking at this on the internet telling Travis to stop looking at stuff on the internet?

Such a solid point.

Because, as you are displaying, it's an interesting subject of conversation.

So you think a school shooting that kills children should have a quick 2-3 minute quip on the local station, page 5-6 in the newspaper and call it good? It should have attention brought to it so America can finally wake up and realize that the way **** is going on right now isn't working. It's causing the death of real life men, women and children. It should be at the forefront so we can make changes to adapt to the time. I've never supported a gun ban, but we need regulation and a lot more of it.

Right. We need to bring back the state run mental institutions and expand legal means of involuntary commitments to said mental institutions.

Anything other than strawmen to add to this conversation or are we to expect more of this? Especially since nothing I said had anything to do with mental institutions or involuntary anything.

"DON'T TOUCH MAH GUNZ!1!!!111!!ELEVEN!!1!"

In any one year in the USA 25% of people will have a diagnosis mental illness. Lot of people to lock up.

Simply being diagnosed with a mental illness has not been put forth by any as the criteria for being remanded to a mental health facility.

Right now a lot of people who would be better served by being in a facility for mental health getting treatment are instead on the street or in prison. There are in fact a lot of people to 'lock up', just right now we lock them in prison where they'll just get worse.

Half of all people are crazier than average. We need to identify which people are which, and assign each sane person a crazy person to keep an eye on, and a gun if they don't already have one.
