TAM5 Pub Crawl

What a shame. I just discovered JREF in Julyish, so I never considered going to a conference. Not that I could go with a newborn, but...
maybe next year.

Foster, would you go?

Anyway, enjoy the time. I'll be drinking by proxy.

I call "proxy"

What's your poison?

Preferred? Barley wines. Weyerbacher's Blithering Idiot or Thomas Hardy, ect. Then a walk down the beer heirarchy. (a Flander's brown, a sourmash, a farmhouse ale, IPA, ...)

Honorable mentions: Sakis (kurosowa is a good bet)
Since I've moved to Kentucky, I've been paying better attention to bourbons. I'm not a hard alcohol man, but Four Roses has been a pleasant discovery.

I'll do my best to hold up your end. I can see Barley Wines as the first 2 rounds, and then maybe the sourmash, and the ale, but after that, Bourbons and nudity will be a natural progression.

You good for one night of bail money, or should I look for another OT shift?

There is also a brew pub if we make it Downtown at the Main Street Station.

I'm up for any form of tomfoolery / gamboling so long as it entails drinking, gaming and having fun. And doesn't conflict with any of the myriad events.

Downtown has really EVIL tourist drinks. I mean - one of those bongs with the extra infusion of grain alcohol - and I know I am ready for... just about anything. Trying to make it downtown this year may be a good idea - it is a much shorter hike between drinking / gaming establishments, the price is lower for the gaming and the drinking, and... well... I like downtown Vegas!

I'm up for a pub crawl. I've got Thursday booked for part of the night. And I may have some setup at another time yet to be determined. But if I am free, I'm there.

Hauteden

I definitely vote for a pub. A good pint of Guinness was one of the things I really missed when in Vegas.

Can we go to the Frontier and look for cowboys in tight green shirts and wranglers again?

Is this something you want on the Official Tam5 Unofficial Activities List?

What places did you hit along the way? Are there any good brew pubs around there?

I don't know about crawling, I may stumble a bit. I have to draw the line somewhere.

IIRC, we went to a bar at the Frontier (that's the one with the bullriding) and after that walked on to some kind of cocktail bar at Treasure Island (the one with the pipe-cleaner-art-waitress, who may not work there any more since it's been a year). Antiquehunter then dragged everyone along to Casino Royale to go and play craps, and most people sort of drifted back to the Stardust at that point.

The only microbrewery I know of was a place at the Monte Carlo, that served their house brew in giant beer bongs 4 or 6 feet high. The Monte Carlo is a tad far for a pub crawl I think. Especially if you want to get a decent amount of drinking done along the way.

Thanks, Exarch.

Hmm. The Frontier....sounds like cowboys, country music, pickup trucks and cheap beer. Maybe a side of Brokeback Mountain. Not sure if that fits my particular idiom.

Beer bongs? Is that place run by a fraternity? I try to drink quality rather than quantity these days. Otherwise my brain hates me the next day.

Oh, what the hell. I'll just go wherever the JREF mob goes.

Yea but I guess we need to pick a time and place to meet. I'd say at the hotel lobby but I'm not sure what day would be best.

Any ideas guys?

How about a little exploratory mission with a smaller group on Wednesday?

There's already drinking at the skepchick PJ party on Friday, which'll also monopolize all the women. And of course there's the forum party on Saturday. I'd say the only opening left is on Thursday, like last time.
What time does the Banacheck show end?

I protest! I didn't DRAG everyone to Casino Royale - I was jonesing for craps and some people accompanied me.

Sheesh! If people don't want to go somewhere, then... don't!

I'd be up for that Frontier place again, just because it was a little scary. (And, rumour has it that Jas is a little bit country.) But there has to be a way to beat the stupid cover charge.

Oh come on. You wanna pay to go somewhere with sawdust on the floor? (Not kidding for those who don't know.)

Am not.

Yeah, the cover charge sucked

But green shirt cowboy was so worth it. Maybe I could go back and chip my tooth on a bottle of Budweiser! That would be a pretty rad souvenir.
