Pics

Claus these pictures are super!!!! I do't want to start again my racist remarks about Europeans and Americans but look at the eye of the European!!! :D

BTW Claus I am shocked. I saw a couple of nude statues... Do they allow those things in the States? Does God allow it?

Also, I discovered with horror that Caesar cheats on me with Celine Dion... :(

Silly ignorant Cleo. The entire U.S. is not defined by Birmingham or Tupelo.

If you were shocked by the nude statues, you'd have crapped yourself with all the porn/hooker/strip club flyers that were availible/handed out all over the Strip.

I dropped my film photos off at Eckards yesterday, but I did want to point out that in this photo of Shane's I was setting a fashion trend that would be adopted by well attired gentlemen attendees the rest of the conference.

I also learned Brown, despite seeming rather reserved, down to Earth and contemplative has a wild side.

That's why it's called "Sin City": A nude statue. But I'm sure that Ashcroft will strike down soon....

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. I didn't know you had a thing going with Celine... :D

Claus: if you are to be all snobish, get your facts straight. There are Greek columns in Venice. :p How could there not be?

Thanks for the pics, btw, I'll be showing them to a couple of friends and my mother.

Not to mention the brothels an hour or so out of town....

I still don't find the time to upload all my pics to my webserver, but here are 3 of them, just to make you envious :D

I did not do any juggling at TAM2, except for what you see in the photo.

Someone in the car I was riding in mentioned The Chicken Ranch.

I said I wouldn't be interested since I'm vegetarian.

:p

Electric Monk, I start the bidding for PJ party photos at $10/ with $20/ for Phil getting his lap dances...

... make that $30 for the latter.

Brown, if you juggle objects as well as you juggled your schedule over the course of TAM2 weekend, then I'd be impressed with a description alone much less a demonstration.

I'm not being snobbish, I'm being European! Reahlly! ;)

Evidence, please? I would not be surprised to find Greek columns in Venice, it's just that they wouldn't be original.

Anytime. Now, I also have some interesting pics of Phil Plait, doing his famous strip act....any bidders?

Oh, hi, Phil! (waves) .....$5000, you say? Let's see how high the bid(lack)s go.... ;)

Would Greek columns from the 13th century suffice? They're claimed to be original, but they wouldn't need to be a original to still be considered part of the local architecture.Take a look But Venice is such a mish-mesh of architectural influence that, almost by definition, there should have been Greek columns. I'd be very surprised if there weren't. Actually, I don't feel like going through Venice pictures right now but I'm sure I could dig some more. So, if you are to mock the Venetian, find some other argument. :p

I will say this: During the P&T show, I enjoyed Penn Jillette's juggling from a perspective that is different from everyone else. First, I noticed that Penn dropped a torch inadvertently while doing "chops." This was actually an ego boost for me, as I thought "Hey, if PENN JILLETTE can drop during his LAS VEGAS show, then there is nothing for me to be ashamed about!"

The broken bottles trick was interesting, too, because much of what Penn said was NOT B.S. This stunt really does entail a danger of being lacerated. When juggling an unfamiliar object, a juggler really does need to take a few practice thows to get a "feel" of the object. Objects that have their mass unevenly distributed (like some broken bottles) really do move in unusual ways when thrown. Stopping juggling of some objects really is harder than starting. (Some jugglers find that it is a simple matter to juggle eggs without breaking them, but that the risk of breakage is very high when stopping.)

I'd give good odds that he drops one every night by "accident" to up the anxiety level when he juggles the broken glass. Also gives him a chance to use the fire extinguisher to the same effect. Anyone see the show on any other night?

I was under that impression too, cosmic. He dropped the torch purposefully because he had to have a chance to use the fire extinguisher, a very important act of the show.

Also, notice how magicians do that all the time. They might say "let me see if I get it this time" because that builds much more tension than when the audience just expectst things to go right. I think the audience likes to see someone completely baffled. :)Ian Rowland resorted to that too when cutting out that PPO. He said something like "oh, let me see if I don't screw up"... Jamie Ian Swiss used that line too, always emphasizing that he "might" get things right. But it's as Randi says... what are the chances of getting it right? 100%. Because it's a trick! :)

No, it would not suffice. When we speak of "Greek" columns, we speak from the Archaic period. At least, I do! :)

No, no, no....you claimed there were "Greek" columns in Venice, you bring the evidence. :p yourself! :)

(I actually enjoyed the Venetian, so there....)
