TAM 9 Program

What's wrong with Steak 'N Shake? I've heard good things about it (though I've never been to one).

Of course, I also heard good things about In 'N Out - finally went to one in Long Beach, CA, and it was *ok*. That meal was anti-climactic.

This.

There's nothing wrong with Steak n Shake. The burgers are great, and they have the best fries. No one argues that last point. Great milk shakes too.

I haven't been to a Steak 'n Shake since I was 17 growing up in St. Louis. What do they have for those of us who no longer eat red meat? The fries are good, right? Oh, look at the menu. Chicken. Okay, I'm game.

The hamburger was dry and the fries tasted like the oil needed to be changed rather than tasting like potatoes. I will admit, I didn't try the shakes so they may be very good, for all I know. Based on my only experience with Steak 'n Shake there, I like Fatburger much better.

I am not looking forward to dining at the hotel Friday night before Dr. Tyson's keynote. At all.

:(

I wonder what would happen if I order room service to be delivered on Friday night during that peak dinner time. Do you think they would be on time? Sure, it would cost an arm and a leg but it might be worth it.

I am sorely tempted to pick up a sandwich or something earlier in the day to stash for a pre-keynote snack and then have a "real" dinner later. The timing is just awful for going out for a decent meal either before or after the keynote, and because I will be coming to TAM straight from another conference in So Cal, I won't be getting in much before the Poker Tournament/Reception on Thursday, so my social opportunities will be fairly limited. Oh well.

This.

Store a sandwich and then enjoy it at the Del Mar between 6:00 and 8:00. I'm not sure why another "real" dinner is required, but I'm not much of a late eater.

I'll take my usual Cliff bars....then can stay up late talking. I enjoy a late night breakfast at South Point.

If the panel just before the dinner break wasn't the only panel I really care about, the problem would be solved with an earlier dinner...

Hi, everybody. Just dropping in to let you all know that the TAM program has been updated. You'll notice that we've taken your feedback into consideration, and the speakers originally scheduled for the evening (Neil deGrasse Tyson and Richard Dawkins) have now been rescheduled for the afternoon.

In addition to the disappointment shared by several of you in this thread, the JREF received a few emails from people who were also concerned about the scheduling. We're happy to have been able to move things around at such short notice, and you can rest assured that any future evening talks at TAM will be announced in plenty of time for attendees to adjust their plans.

Thank you for the feedback, and we'll see all of you in Vegas!
