TAM 9 Dates

If I go (still need to see if I can afford it again, and I'd like to see some list of speakers so I know there's going to be a certain amount of new material), I'll definitely be volunteering, and I'd also be staying for at least a day or two after TAM finishes. There's plenty of things I'd like to do that I didn't get around to.

Personally, I'm hoping for another Dawkins keynote. ;)

TAM-9? Are you kidding me? TAM-8 was a total sham! Think about it! Everyone knows that nerds are incapable of socialising! And have you noticed that JREF admins and mods have started to act very strangely? They obviously don’t want this story getting out. I mean, what would happen if people began asking what really happened to Penn & Teller? Well, they may be able to fool the sheeple, but the members of No True Skeptics Left Behind aren’t swallowing their story. Look, don’t take it from me; Dr. Havangudtym Vishniverhyr, PhD. is convinced as well. But we have to act fast, because the mods may be monitoring this thread for free-thinking members. I just wanted you to be aware of this, in case I disappear.

Light? LIGHT?! You call getting bombarded by hundreds of skeptics at the 8am registration light work?! :p

What? The Sun was up!

Yay! Since they moved the dates, I will actually be able to stay past Friday evening next year. I would love to see you again, Piggy.

Good, you'll have more opportunities to loose at poker!

Then again, if everyone leaves Sunday, that might make for a very lonely evening. It might be best to come home and see my cats and call my family, maybe even go over and have supper with them.

Don't worry, there's lots of cool people who stay over until Monday

Mom and I are planning on staying until Monday, so you will have us, at least. :)

Oh, and Hokulele too!

So that's Thursday thru Sunday?

I might try flying Wednesday and Monday, just to give me some breathing room, depending on the event schedule.

I tend to get very depressed after events like this.

My first reaction is an almost overwhelming anxiety. After a while, I relax and start enjoying myself (sometimes... I predict this will be one of those times). Then when everybody leaves, I feel incredibly sad and alone, until I readjust back to normalcy.

My twice-yearly poker weekend is in January, here at my place, and that Sunday evening is almost unbearable.

I do hope you will be there Piggy, it would be nice to see you again. Lots of people do stay through Monday, some even longer. Leaving Sunday is a pain, big crowds at the airport and it is more expensive to fly then. There are always quite a few people there on Sunday night and all of us will be in the Del Mar at various points in the evening. Games will be played again, I have some new dice games and one of them involves zombies :D

There were still people hanging around Tuesday. Not a lot, but significant number.

Rumor has it Mr. Pinky is still there, hiding underneath a table in the Del Mar and ready to pounce at the first sight of a TAM badge.

So, any word yet on South Point Room Sales?

And we'll have to get started on the Poker Tournament!

There is a sale on at present, but it only covers up to December. I booked my South Point room for TAM8 whilst I was in the UK, which means it was sometime in January. Can't believe how quickly this has come around. Feels like I only got home from TAM8 a few days ago! :)

Hok lost at poker in Vegas?!

Sheesh.

There's no excuse for that.

Hok, talk to me before you hit the tables and I'll tell you how to win. (The key is realizing that, at certain tables, no matter how you play, someone is going to stay with you.)

I'm glad to hear that folks stick around. I will try to get out, since I had to ditch last year to get my ticker fixed.

I'm not into dice games, tho I might play some cards w/ y'all... even though it will probably be much harder to win against this crowd than at the $2/4 hold'em tables.

Piggy, if you make it to TAM9, that would be the BEST!

I would really like to. I've kinda been "warmed up" by TAM7, so it probably will not take me 2 days to speak to anybody this time around. Volunteering would help, because it would force me into contact with people right away.

I'm figuring the budget and will set aside some assets.

It would be interesting to see if anybody else is flying out of Hartsfield when I am, too.

Well, she did make the mistake of betting beer against a Canadian.

I've discovered that I actually get a small size shirt this way... :D
LOL! If that's what it takes, that's what you'll get.

Have you got a problem with making hundreds of skeptics happy at 8am? :D

In addition to.
Linda was pretty firm about it being "instead of"; I'm pretty sure the orders are placed with that in mind. If you're taking an extra that means some skeptic somewhere is going topless -- and it's a hairy, ugly, male skeptic at that. :p

I'll even take an extra shift, this time, since there was that... incident... that caused me to miss one, last time....
That was no problem at all. There are always a few people that volunteer after I finish the schedule and who are willing to fill in as needed. I simply asked one to cover that part of lunch.

Then again, if everyone leaves Sunday, that might make for a very lonely evening.
There have always been people staying until Monday. I'll be staying until Monday. As Kochanski wrote, the airport is crowded on Sunday -- everyone is trying to get back to work on Monday.

Volunteering would help, because it would force me into contact with people right away.
In that case, try to be there for the packet assembly and volunteer lunch on Wednesday the 13th.

I usually try to take a broken-up week off of work, Wednesday to Tuesday, coming home Monday so I have a day to sleeeeeeep before going back to the grind.

Well, it was the JREF Charity Tournament, so losing doesn't sting.

As much.

I do know better than to swim with the sharks. ;)

I can't deny that being showered with praise, chocolates and kisses did make the entire experience totally worth while. ;)

Alas, I did not give you any kisses for the three packages of Tim Tams I got to bring home because their owners didn't claim them in time.
