TAM 6 roommates thread

Dear Roommates;

Let's get the number-crunching over with. :)

The room I reserved is for three nights, June 19 to June 22. One of us is coming in from Austrailia before the 19th, so would you like me to call the hotel and reserve the room for the 18th as well?

I have the first night already paid for with taxes and fees and everything. If I reserve from the 18th to the 22, that makes four nights, one night per roommate. Should we split the cost that way, each of us paying for one night?

There's a deposit required in case of room services. Are any of you able to make that deposit? It's refundable at check-out. Even if we don't use services they require it anyway. I'm unable to pay it. They'll accept a credit card.

Do you want the reservation info?

Anyway, stilll looking for roommates. Ideal situation would be the sort of thing that Michelle Lyon et al. have hooked up, i.e., multiple people to split the bill with.

Anyway... anyone out there who is sill looking, give me a shout. See my post above, search me out on Facebook (Jason Loxton, Dalhousie University), or close your eyes and meditate really hard if you want to know things about me.

I have also added a thread about the possibility of doing a budget post-conference Grand Canyon (two day) road trip.

I am half-tempted to fly in for the 18th, as well. But, don't count on that, yet. I have to think if the cost of flight change is worth it, to do the few extra things I want to, especially with that fact that I will probably be in Vegas, again, next year, anyway. (Or, maybe sooner, if work requires it. )

I have created a new thread for people looking for roommates as this one has become really cluttered and difficult to navigate. (It is unclear who is still looking and with 64 posts to run through, a bit intimidating.) Anyone still looking for a roommate perhaps post on the new thread.

I'll be staying two miles from the strip at my sisters, partially renovated house. It'll sorta be like camping, but It can work for me. I may have room for a guest, but I'll have to wait till I get there to see what kind of shape the place is in.

Dammit, this sucks.

As a result of waiting until my tax refund had been properly transferred onto my bank account rather than just start spending and creating debt to go to TAM6, I now paid not only $50 extra for the registration, but instead of about $750 for 6 nights, the JREF room rate has been depleted, as have all the non super-luxury suites, meaning any room for that time period is going for almost twice that price.

Granted, there's a room mate picking up half the tab here, but I just hate spending an extra $300 each on accommodation for no other reason than the fact we're both kinda poor and want to make sure we can actually afford to go before spending our paychecks. This feels like picking up a stack of cash and throwing it in the garbage.

$300 is like, 4 buffets, a roller coaster, a trip to the gun store, a very boozy pub crawl, and still plenty of money left for ... whatever. Perhaps if I don't eat or do anything to enjoy myself, I can stay within my originally planned budget. But where's the fun in that.

What a rip-off ... :(

In other words, both KingMerv00 and me are desperately looking for room mates, because I think neither of us is really looking forward to this kind of excessive spending.

Well, guess what? I am now arriving on the 18th!

If it is not too much trouble, you can reserve the room for that night. Me and the Australian fellow can pay for half of it, each.
Then the four of us total roomies will go quartersies on the other evenings. Sound fair?

It should be added here that KingMerv00 and Exarch are two of the coolest and most fun people on this forum--if not at all of TAM--and would be great roomies. I plan to skulk around their room as often as possible, and I plan to bring booze with me when I do it.
 
Bed available at the Flamingo!

Hey everyone! My room has a bed available. We lost touch with one of the roommies, so in the interest of having things secured, we are looking for a replacement.

We have a Deluxe room in Flamingo (the $119 one), it's co-ed and non-smoking, reserved for 4 PM June 18 to 11 AM June 22. Your portion of the rent would be $195.11 including all taxes and fees (but does not include incidentals, those are extra), and that's for all four days/three nights.

Please PM myself, Wowbagger or Zytheran if interested. I will post here when the bed is filled.

Yes, it's true, The King and I are bunking together in what will hence forth be known as "the party room". It's a slightly bigger, more luxurious room, 'cause all y'all took all the cheap cozy rooms already. Apparently, it's also already promising to be filled with skepchicks (and dudes) and plenty of alcohol.
Vegas as it should be :cool: (although it probably won't hurt to find another roommate so we can spend even more money on liquor).

I'm staying alone. There will be a lot more space if you skulk around my room. :)
 
I might be going, so I'm looking for more of a bathtub/floor than a roommate (TAM ala rebecca). If I end up not going, I don't want to stick you with a full hotel bill. So while I'd totally hang with exarch or King Merv, again, I don't want to stick them with a roommate-less room and a huge ass bill.

I endorse my soon-to-be roommate and his "party room" plan. He is wise.
