SweatyYeti's Martian Civilization Evidence Thread

Thanks for the link, Kitty! :)

I'm looking forward to watching it later, with my buddy, Marvin...

Here's the latest find on Mars, courtesy of the Rovers.
It's a nice, shiny rectangular object.....

[qimg]http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w28/SweatyYeti/Mars/rocky2.jpg[/qimg]

Here's the full image...notice how the artificial-looking object is so much more reflective than all the rocks in the picture...almost as if it was metallic...

[qimg]http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w28/SweatyYeti/Mars/rocky1.jpg[/qimg]

Notice also how the ground inside the disturbed ring of soil looks different than the ground outside the ring.

All in all....very anomolous. :)
I'm sure you'll enjoy that show. Some questions:

Last picture there, any theories?

You think rectangular rocks don't occur naturally?

That particular surface catching the sun at an angle and reflecting the light strongly doesn't occur to you?

You don't think geological conditions on Mars can account for what we see there?

When did this Martian civilization die out? Any ideas?

I can see nothing in any of those pictures that looks even vaguely 'un-natural'

This is not even pareidolia, it's just pure imagination.

Of course they do.

It sure did occur to me.
It also occured to me that all of the rocks in this image have irregular shapes, with "sides" facing every possible angle. But yet none of them are reflecting the sunlight with the intensity that the object in question is.

So the object, in addition to it's unusual highly regular shape, has a surface, and, very likely a composition, which is different than all of the rocks in the image.

As a result, the object is extremely anomalous.

No, I don't.

I don't have any theories, myself.
I'm more interested in whether or not these structures/objects on Mars that are artificial in origin, rather than natural. If they are, then we should be planning manned missions to Mars to do some up-close :eye-poppi investigating.

Mars has never been inhabitated by an intelligent species. There may be life there but it was never smart.

Having said that wouldn't it be fantastic if there were martians? Building their buildings, writing their books and sending radio signals including TV to us? Unless a miracle happens we'll never see an alien much less communicate with them but wouldn't it be exciting if we could? Mars almost made it. Too bad it didn't.

Not particularly. Take a look at this:

Tessellated+Pavement+1.JPG

This is the Tesselated Pavement in Tasmania. Notice all of the straight lines - the high degree of regularity. Is this an artificial structure? No. It formed quite naturally.

Why should a rock on Mars be any different? It happens to be in a position that reflects light better than other rocks nearby. Why is this unusual or anomalous?

Here's the latest, hottest anomaly from Mars....from the Phoenix Lander's first set of images....

A close-up of the thing sticking anomalously out of the ground

Can you prove it is stuck in the ground? Saying it is sticking out of the ground is not an accurate statement since you can not tell if it is even stuck into the ground from this image.
To me it could be a bit of data lost in the image. Perhaps we can look at both images from the stereo camera. Is this in only one image or in both? If it is in one, then it is something that is really not there. If it is in both, then you might have a case.

I've found the object on 2 images, on two different webpages....

http://fawkes4.lpl.arizona.edu/images.php?gID=440&cID=8

...and on this page...

There's an ongoing discussion about this anomaly, and the Lander images in general, on the Hidden Mission Forum...

http://www.keithlaney.net/TheHiddenMissionForum/

I mentioned it before, but I think you need to register to be able to read the "Hidden Mission Review" section.

As far as proving anything about the object in question....I can't. But, there does appear to be a hint of a shadow next to it.

It does not mean that it is two separate images. Simply could be a copy of the original. I can only find it once at the JPL site. It is the right camera taking the shot

http://phoenix.lpl.arizona.edu/images.php?gID=440&cID=8

Unfortunately, the left camera image has nothing useful. The azimuth is 356.278, so you can wait for the next image to verify if it is something there or not. Of course, if it does not show up, there can be cries of cover-up, etc. Enjoy that little party.

I think the truly anamolous object is here:

http://phoenix.lpl.arizona.edu/images.php?gID=509&cID=8

My guess is that it is the heat shield or parachute in the distance. It could be something else. It definitely looks like something actually on the surface though and not an artifact. It is at azimuth 161.484 for future reference.

Have fun finding all the skulls and stuff in the images. To me, there is nothing but a lot of very small rocks.

I agree, Astro...those 2 images I posted links to may be from the same original source image. But they're not identical images....so, who knows? JPL's site doesn't seem to be very well organized, as far as their images go.

As an example....here is an excerpt from a post on the Hidden Mission Forum....from Monday, the day after Phoenix landed....

"CONGRATULATIONS to the Phoenix team!
cheers.gif

but...
A slight problem... hopefully just some initial errors, but it's started worrying me a bit...
The original link to the images was:
http://fawkes4.lpl.arizona.edu/images.php?gID=0&cID=7
...and now it is:
http://fawkes4.lpl.arizona.edu/images.php?gID=0&cID=8

When the images were on the page labeled 7 there were over 80 images available....
and now with the page labeled 8 there are only about 45.... ??"

I can only find it once at the JPL site.

Yesterday, when I went looking on JPL's site for the object on more than one image, I could only find it on one, also.
The 2nd image link I had to get off of the Hidden Mission thread.

I didn't know they celebrated Festivus on Mars...

Frank Costanza: Many Christmases ago, I went to buy a doll for my son. I reached for the last one they had, but so did another man. As I rained blows upon him, I realized there had to be another way.
Cosmo Kramer: What happened to the doll?
Frank Costanza: It was destroyed. But out of that a new holiday was born: a Festivus for the rest of us!

Cosmo Kramer: Is there a tree?
Frank Costanza: No, instead, there's a pole. It requires no decoration. I find tinsel distracting.

Frank Costanza: It's made from aluminum. Very high strength-to-weight ratio.
Mr. Kruger: I find your belief system fascinating.

Um... what other "object" off in the distance? The only apparently anomalous object I can see is the bright triangularish thing in the upper left, which looks very much like the lander's heat shield. No other strange objects in that particular picture. Just the one.

Here's the full image...notice how the artificial-looking object is so much more reflective than all the rocks in the picture...
Umm...there are plenty of other shiny rocks in that picture. Check out that one all the way on the left. Also notice that it's at a different angle than the other rocks around it and it only makes sense that it would reflect a different amount of light.
almost as if it was metallic...
A metallic rectangle? That just so happens to have the same color and luster and jaggedness as lots of rocks around it? And what do you think this thing is, really? A Martian iPod?
Notice also how the ground inside the disturbed ring of soil looks different than the ground outside the ring.
I don't really see it, but even so, I don't think geology is completely insufficient to explain why you might find two different kinds of dirt on different sides of a geological formation.
All in all....very anomolous. :)
ROFLMAO, anomaly hunting... That brings me back to my 9/11 conspiracy days. But eventually you just have to learn that an "anomaly" doesn't mean "my crazy idea that nobody believes really IS being covered up by the experts!!" Well, happy hunting, I guess.

By the way, am I the only one reminded of Percival Lowell here?
Lowell's misunderstanding and overactive imagination led to the notion that Mars was inhabited by intelligent beings who were capable of planet wide engineering projects, and is the source of many science fiction stories about the red planet.

Sorry, my post was a little confusing, the way I worded it.

The "other object" I was refering to is in another image.
Here's a link to it...
